About The Position

The Dispatch Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of transportation and warehousing dispatch activities across the United States. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and efficient scheduling, routing, and coordination of shipments to meet customer demands while maximizing resource utilization. The Dispatch Manager leads a team of dispatchers, providing guidance, training, and performance management to maintain high standards of service and compliance with safety regulations. They collaborate closely with drivers, warehouse personnel, and logistics partners to resolve issues and improve operational workflows. Ultimately, the role aims to enhance overall transportation efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain excellent customer satisfaction through effective dispatch management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation dispatch or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards in the United States.
  • Proficiency with dispatch software and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing a team in a fast-paced transportation or warehousing environment.
  • Familiarity with route optimization tools and GPS tracking technologies.
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and customer service departments.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights to improve dispatch operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the daily dispatch operations, including scheduling and routing of shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinate with drivers, warehouse staff, and logistics partners to address and resolve operational challenges promptly.
  • Monitor transportation performance metrics and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations and company safety policies.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate the dispatch team to maintain high levels of productivity and service quality.
  • Develop and maintain communication channels between dispatch, drivers, and customers to provide timely updates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to dispatch activities, performance, and resource utilization for senior management.
