About The Position

The Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) supports public health efforts to prevent and control communicable diseases through case investigation, contact tracing, partner services, and education. This position works closely with epidemiologists, public health nurses, healthcare providers, and community partners to ensure timely and effective intervention. This role requires a balance of independent fieldwork and collaboration, with on-call availability for urgent situations and optional participation in outbreak response activities during high-priority public health events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in public health, health sciences, social sciences, or related field; or six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
