About The Position

Interviews, educates and counsels patients with communicable diseases, assists staff with field visits and conducts follow-ups to ensure that timely and appropriate medical care is received.

Requirements

  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study.
  • One (1) year of work related experience.
  • Knowledge of standard software applications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License and good driving record.
  • Will be required to provide a copy of 10-year driving history.
  • Must maintain a good driving record and remain in compliance with Article II, Subdivision II of Chapter 90 of the Dallas County Code.
  • Must possess reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel extensively to make home visits.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, educates and counsels patients regarding infectious diseases and control.
  • Assists Communicable Disease staff by identifying, locating and notifying patients to ensure proper medical care is received, and conducts follow-up field visits.
  • Draws blood for communicable disease and other infectious disease supported activities.
  • Assists Epidemiology staff and Communicable Disease staff in outbreak investigations.
  • Conducts seminars with physicians and clinics regarding infectious diseases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
