JOB SUMMARY: Serve as a Discern/CCL Lead responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and optimization of Cerner Command Language (CCL) programs, Discern rules, custom reports, and decision support tools across Claritev client engagements. This role ensures high-quality customizations that enhance clinical workflows, support data-driven decision making, and align with organizational standards and regulatory needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma and three to five (3-5) years of experience developing programs on the Oracle Health (Cerner) Millennium Platform.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Strong knowledge of Cerner Command Language (CCL)
  • Experience with Linux systems, command line, Discern Visual Developer, and DA2
  • Use of terminal emulators, file-based exchange tools (SFTP)
  • Ability to understand, design, and manipulate Discern rules
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, analytical and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting tools for monitoring script performance and errors
  • Excellent oral, written and communication skills
  • The ability to quickly acquire and understand new processes with strict attention to detail
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, work on multiple tasks and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work at the highest technical level on all phases of software systems programming applications
  • Ability to analyze data and arrive at a logical conclusion
  • Ability to assess ramification of issues and prioritize tasks based on business impact
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients
  • Ability to evaluate production situations and current information to determine the appropriate course of action and execute decisions
  • Ability to use software, hardware and peripherals related to job responsibilities, including MS Office and software development applications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of CCL scripts, Discern rules, custom reports, and extracts.
  • Translate clinical, financial, and operational requirements into scalable CCL/Discern solutions.
  • Collaborate with clinical, technical, integration, reporting, and architecture teams to ensure proper function, performance, data accuracy, and interoperability
  • Ensure code quality through documentation, version control, code review, and adherence to Cerner development standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex CCL issues, optimize performance, and support production stability.
  • Support testing cycles, validation, and deployment activities for new or enhanced CCL and Discern configurations.
  • Mentor junior developers and analysts while contributing to development governance and best practices.
