About The Position

The Director plays a key role in advancing strategic priorities through policy analysis, project planning, stakeholder engagement and leadership of key initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Government, Education or similar subject area.
  • Fifteen or more years experience working on Texas public education policy, including postsecondary pathways.
  • Ten or more years experience working on Texas higher education policy.
  • Direct experience effectively engaging with policymakers at the institutional, local, state and federal level.
  • Five or more years managing new initiatives and programs.
  • Experience partnering with philanthropy to advance program and policy goals.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Supports successful implementation of all new and ongoing initiatives through project planning and management, data gathering and analysis, conducting research, coordinating stakeholder meetings, and preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Serves as the lead on external policy and programmatic collaborations across public education and higher education partners.
  • Collaboratively develops and implements a strategic plan to represent and advance policy interests with local, state, and federal policymakers and agencies.
  • Works to identify and build strategic relationships to advance priorities including securing funding from philanthropic and governmental partners.
  • Monitors, tracks, and analyzes policy impacting initiatives and operations, including the education and research missions.
  • Promptly responds to requests for information from institutional and program constituents regarding activities and operations.
  • Monitors and analyzes state, national and international public and higher education research and policy trends, including educational pathways.
  • Informs and effectively communicates with policymakers about the local, state, and national importance and impact of programmatic offerings and institutional research.
  • Briefs unit and university leadership and stakeholders on policy changes.
