Position Summary: The Director, Warehousing and Logistics designs, implements, and leads TireHub’s warehousing network and logistics activities across North America (NA) while exceeding customer delivery goals and achieving TireHub’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP). The position leads the design and implementation of a NA hub-spoke logistics model and implements continuous improvement projects across TireHub’s warehousing network to reduce cost and capital investment, while delivering targeted customer goals through optimized inbound/outbound shipment processing, physical inventory control, freight handling, transportation routing management, and the project management of TireHub Operations initiatives to support strategic objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management.
  • 10 or more years of proven, results-driven experience leading a geographically dispersed management team in logistics, operations, or supply chain management.
  • 5 - 8 years’ experience leading a team of 2 tier distribution facility managers.
  • 5 - 8 years’ experience in directing a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-facility, hub & spoke 2 tier distribution system (excludes last-mile distribution) including:
  • Designing national hub & spoke distribution processes & procedures
  • Stand up multiple new hub (“big box”) distribution centers in a hub-spoke model.
  • 5+ years' experience in effective relationship and performance management of over-the-road carriers.
  • Experience in an operations unit with practice in the design and implementation of new systems or change management.
  • Proven technical skills regarding channel and customer focus (relative to Supply Chain).
  • In-depth knowledge of Supply Chain's contribution/impact, proficiency with financial statements/tools, understanding working capital, practical experience with information technology specific to warehousing and logistics (WMS, TMS, Scanning technology, etcetera).
  • Strong bias to a Customer-centric approach. Ability to ensure customer (internal and external) needs are listened to and understood by self and cross-functional teams.
  • Understand process contributions - analyze relationship(s) among multiple parts of Operations/Supply Chain.
  • Ability to set and effectively manage cross-functional process performance goals.
  • Knowledge of enterprise-wide contributions/impact.
  • Ability to comprehend industry/market impacts.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 60%.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements the optimal North American hub-spoke warehouse network to enable TireHub’s growth agenda.
  • Aligns NA warehouse and logistics operations with the overall NA Operations network strategy.
  • Hires, develops, retains, and directs a team of multiple Region Distribution Center Leaders and the National Transportation Manager, along with their respective teams.
  • Directs day-to-day activities across the NA warehouse and logistics network, including ensuring TireHub employee safety, inbound/outbound shipment planning and processing, physical inventory control, freight planning and handling, transportation routing management and execution.
  • Implements continuous improvement projects across our warehousing network to reduce cost and capital investment, while delivering targeted customer goals.
  • Conducts monthly budget reviews across the warehouse and logistics network to ensure the business is meeting or exceeding AOP objectives. Initiates corrective actions as needed.
  • Creates/Maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and manage network productivity and service performance. Initiates corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides regular communication of performance and achievement of goals (operational, budgetary, and strategic) regarding TireHub’s warehousing network and logistics operations.
  • Minimizes out-bound transportation costs at each site by ensuring full trailer load cube and capacities are leveraged to minimize cost.
  • Establishes distribution network performance metrics and long-term strategies, ensuring alignment with other NA Operations disciplines, including Inventory Planning, Field Operations, Fleet, EHS, Real Estate, and Operations Development.
  • Manages network capacity through close coordination of in-bound/out-bound flows while establishing cost and service-effective solutions to accommodate seasonal and special buy inventory builds.
  • Develops talent within the TireHub Warehouse and Logistics team and ensure a focus of continuous improvement and development across the network.
  • Coordinates closely with Inventory Planning, Field Operations, and Sales leadership on the status of order fulfillment efforts to meet Customer needs, as well as meet month-end/quarter-end capacity targets to support TireHub’s NA Operations strategic and tactical plans.
  • Drives cross-functional organizational improvements for TireHub and our valued Customers that align with TireHub strategies.
  • Manages the warehouse and logistics budget to meet annual operating plan (AOP) requirements.
  • Serves as part of Tirehub’s extended leadership team, and reports to the Vice President of Operations.
