To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing: The US Capital Markets CAO group provides strategic and operational leadership for CIBC’s US Capital Markets business, supporting its mandate to be a premier client-focused global bank. The CAO’s Global Markets Business Management Team acts as the primary liaison between Front Office Trading teams, Sales desks, and both internal and external vendors, brokers, and suppliers. Our team supports the US Trade Floor businesses by leading revenue-generating initiatives and managing internal projects, all focused on driving and sustaining profitability. This ensures seamless coordination and effective partnership across all functions. Business Management is dedicated to maintaining a robust control environment and providing expert guidance to advance business strategy. This role supports Senior Business Managers across various Trading Product areas, with a primary focus on Fixed Income and Distribution. The ideal candidate will have experience in Fixed Income products, with specific expertise in Bond trading (US Investment Grade, US Treasuries) and Rates.

Requirements

  • 5 - 10 years of demonstrated experience as a Business or Front Office Project Manager
  • Subject matter expertise and in-depth knowledge of Fixed Income products.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter; able to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment with limited management oversight.
  • Experience leading projects involving multiple infrastructure team stakeholders, including Compliance, Legal, Risk, IT, Operations, and Finance.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues concisely and communicate effectively and comfortably with senior leaders; excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with proven leadership abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments under aggressive targets and potential changes in plans.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)
  • Previous COO or front office project management experience required

Responsibilities

  • Effectively prioritize, delegate, and execute assignments, projects, and initiatives, proactively addressing issues to enable Traders and Sales teams to remain focused on their specialized roles.
  • Contribute to the implementation of business strategy in support of US strategic growth plans; coordinate and draft project plans and business requirements for new initiatives while ensuring compliance with CIBC’s Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) process
  • Be responsive and accessible to the business throughout the day; be proactive in response to information requests and promptly resolve any day-to-day service or business related issues
  • Establish and sustain effective working relationships with stakeholders across supported business areas—including Fixed Income, Distribution (Sales), Repo. Treasury and others—up to and including Senior Management levels.
  • Partner with cross-functional groups—including Middle Office, Finance, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Regulatory Supervision and Internal Audit—to resolve issues, enhance efficiencies, advance business objectives, and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying and escalating issues, risks, and dependencies, and facilitate effective communication across teams.
  • Coordinate and contribute to responses of various internal and external auditor / regulator requests, findings and reports; remain apprised of the ever changing and applicable regulations and laws; ensure regulatory requirements and CIBC policies are understood, implemented and monitored successfully.
  • Manage and maintain an effective and documented internal control structure, demonstrated through regular updates to desk policies and procedures and adherence to, and successful testing of, internal controls and logical access reviews.
  • Manage and analyze financials for the US Trade Floor, coordinating with Business Management partners in Toronto to produce revenue, expense, and headcount budgets, and updating forecasts and estimates throughout the fiscal year.
  • Review and control operating and allocated expenses to identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide accurate and detailed financial reports to desk heads and management on a periodic basis
  • Partner with technology to ensure design and build requirements meet business needs; assist with technology projects by prioritizing and participating in technology discussion; synchronize and integrate the US Trade Floor’s strategic technology deliverables with those of CIBC Global Markets
  • Support and organize technology infrastructure initiatives for the U.S. Trade Floor, which include, but are not limited to the following: trade floor moves, voice (turret) / communication, network, new user set-up, new infrastructure technology initiatives, application initiatives, hardware and market data. Focus on maximizing efficiencies and minimizing costs
  • Liaise with external vendors and third party providers to coordinate market data services, execution platforms, broker contracts, etc.; coordinate with technology, legal, compliance, and other CIBC stakeholders to ensure approval and/or on-boarding of such is acceptable to CIBC
  • Collaborate with various risk groups to ensure comprehensive understanding of credit, market, and operational risk across all businesses. Ensure Traders are informed about their applicable market risk limits, approved products list, and other relevant risk parameters.

  • This role has an expected salary range of $150,000 - $180,000 for the NY,NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.
  • The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
