About The Position

The Director, Value Operations , is a strategic leader responsible for enhancing Best Buy’s ability to deliver high-impact products and enhancements to customers and employees. This role drives cross-functional planning, governance, and integration across Product, Business, Engineering, and Strategy & Planning teams to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, OKRs, and Lean Portfolio Management practices. This role involves Product Strategy, ideation, & Planning activities that bolster a customer centric culture that embraces data insights, drives innovation, aligns to value outcomes & increases Best Buy’s competitive advantage. This role is remote eligible, which means you would work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product operations, portfolio management, PMO, or strategic planning within a complex, cross-functional environment.
  • 7 years' experience as a people manager, with a track record of attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Portfolio Management, PDLC, and agile product development practices.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.
  • Ability to synthesize data and insights to influence decision-making and drive strategic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and initiatives with measurable business impact.
  • Experience with governance, compliance, and enterprise-level planning processes.
  • Strategic mindset with a bias for action and a focus on delivering customer and business value.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology or Business Administration; MBA or MS highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support Portfolio holistic planning and lead cross-functional product planning and coordination to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and OKRs. This would include integrating such practices as horizon planning, Portfolio prioritization, success criteria, and PI Planning events at the Product/Feature level.
  • Partner with Product, Business, and Strategy & Planning teams to integrate Lean Portfolio Management practices, competencies, and drive hypothesis creation, MVP analysis, Portfolio prioritization, and Portfolio monthly events to measure delivery effectiveness vs value creation/spend.
  • Establish governance guardrails and promote systems thinking to support scalable, value-driven product development.
  • Align funding mechanisms to the flow of value, enabling agility and responsiveness to market conditions.
  • Build, support, and mature PDLC competencies across teams to ensure timely, outcome-focused delivery.
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making and optimize value realization across programs and initiatives.
  • Champion a high-performing product culture through effective communication, change management, and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with portfolio processes and drive continuous improvement through measurement, ownership, and strategic check-ins.
