Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/ This Value Stream Director role supports the Surgical Vision Equipment platform(s) and reports to the E2E Supply Chain Lead. The Value Stream Director serves as the end‑to‑end Value Stream Leader (VSL), accountable for E2E product strategy development, execution, and performance across the product lifecycle on a global scale, including the integration of acquired entities. This role is expected to lead the orchestration of best‑practice supply chain and manufacturing strategies, ensuring alignment across internal and external partners. The Value Stream Director brings a strong understanding of the global Medical Device industry, its channels, and lifecycle dynamics, and combines strategic vision with active governance and execution oversight to deliver E2E value. The Value Stream Director is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for developing, governing, and executing End‑to-End (E2E) Value Stream strategies and initiatives within Surgical Vision Equipment. Operating in a global, multi‑functional environment, this role leads a portfolio of Product Strategy Roadmaps (PSRs), initiatives, and investments across one or more value streams. The primary responsibility is to optimize E2E performance through value‑based decision making, making conscious, profitable trade‑offs across service, cost, cash, risk, and resilience, while maintaining clear product ownership and accountability. This role ensures alignment to Business Objectives, drives cross‑functional excellence, and connects Supply Chain, Commercial, and R&D partners to develop customer‑centric lifecycle strategies that deliver franchise and enterprise outcomes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required; A technical/supply chain or business degree is preferred. An advanced degree (i.e. MBA) is preferred
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with direct or indirect leadership of cross functional teams is required.
  • Related experience in one or more of the following: manufacturing, distribution, planning, project management, procurement, or engineering is required
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set, spirit with strong ability to navigate through ambiguity, and ability to think strategically, innovatively, and creatively to drive positive outcomes is required
  • Direct manufacturing experience in a healthcare manufacturing operation required
  • Knowledge of financial processes such as P&L calculation and COGS preferred
  • Ability to drive operational excellence across organizations, with measurable, financial, quality and cycle time results required
  • Understanding of the linkages in supply chain from demand planning through delivery to customer required
  • Ability to build a future vision and gaining support and alignment to that vision required
  • Developing working strategic plans in alignment with the corporate strategic goals preferred
  • Experience working in a complex matrix organization and achieving results through collaboration with internal and external partners is required
  • Strong ability to distil insights from data from multiple sources is required
  • Exposure to a global environment in previous roles is preferred
  • Familiarity / experience with master production schedule process, inventory management, supply chain management is strongly preferred
  • Strong comprehension of the new product introduction process preferred
  • Detail and solution oriented with ability to work within broad guidelines and exercise considerable initiative, judgment, and decisiveness

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong connections to Customers and Franchise stakeholders (globally and regionally), ensuring customer and franchise priorities are reflected in E2E product and supply chain strategies.
  • Provide strategic vision for the business and lead the communication and deployment of E2E supply chain and product strategies to enable sustainable business growth.
  • Gather and integrate multi‑functional inputs to develop E2E product strategies and Product Strategy Roadmaps (PSRs), identify and mitigate risks, and prioritize critical initiatives.
  • Communicate changes in E2E strategy, priorities, and PSRs to stakeholders, and track execution progress, performance outcomes, and business results through established governance.
  • Align metrics and KPIs with a focus on Reliability, Innovation, Profitability, and Cash Flow, setting performance targets for internal and aligned external manufacturing operations to meet Enterprise and GOC goals.
  • Establish strong linkages with Franchise Operations and Development teams to ensure effective NPI governance, launch readiness, and transfer of ownership for global launches.
  • Drive innovation in manufacturability and process development across the product lifecycle, from design through post‑launch optimization.
  • Deliver project and initiative objectives in collaboration with NPD and Commercial partners, ensuring alignment with endorsed strategies.
  • Balance and drive continuous improvement in cost, customer service, and product quality, making conscious E2E trade‑offs while minimizing compliance risk.
  • Manage and prioritize capital investments to support growth and ensure capital efficiency and value realization.
  • Establish and govern processes to manage the portfolio of supply chain initiatives, supporting improvements in reliability, capacity, NPI, profitability, compliance, and supply chain digitalization.
  • Evaluate and manage supply chain risks across the E2E value stream, ensuring risks are assessed, mitigated, and reflected in strategy and execution plans.
  • Drive continuous cost improvement in Gross Profit and COGS, aligned with the Business Strategic Plan and PSRs.
  • Coordinate with sites to ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines, with risks assessed, escalated, and managed for broader business impact.
  • Coordinate with sites to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, local, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
