About The Position

The Director of Asset Management will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the operational functions of utility infrastructure. The role will interface and collaborate with critical stakeholders including but not limited to: substation and data center design engineering, DCIM, Security, Development, and Facility Operations. The role will be responsible for operational management of 10+ sites across multiple states within the US and internationally, with total asset value above $500M. This is a management position tasked with building positive working relationships with team members, customers, partners, company affiliates, owners, investors, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ten or more years of utility or other energy-related asset management.
  • Four or more years of people leader experience.
  • Four or more years of experience operating high voltage substations.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with executives and collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing an extensive portfolio of work across large regions.
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time or as needed to support relationship-building and team management.
  • Proven leadership and decision-making skills, strong business and strategic planning capability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to apply analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced, changing, and growing environment.
  • Ability to motivate and persuade others to drive organizational change, experience managing across multiple departments, and the attention to detail required to manage both projects and people within established timelines.
  • Focused on all aspects of Substation and Power Generation asset management, including accounting, finance, operational management, asset management, information technology, and human resources.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or comparable experience.
  • Fifteen or more years of utility or other energy-related asset management.
  • Six or more years of people leader experience.
  • Experience managing large energy assets (100+ MW).
  • Established relationships with leading utility partners and O&M providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate MOMA agreements >$25 million in value.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to the Asset Management team including oversight and creation of annual Asset Management budget and monitoring actual performance against budget.
  • Track utility asset performance against original planned goals and objectives and financial and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Operations team to develop strategic plans to achieve both our owners' and investors' financial and investment goals.
  • Collaborate with the Facility Operations team to perform regular reviews of portfolio properties and ensure physical aspects of the portfolio meet owner, lender, and investor requirements.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of compliance programs as needed.
  • Support Facility Operations during planned and unplanned outages with technical guidance and management of third-party utility O&M providers.
  • Provide assistance with associated warranty claims against OEM and EPC providers as needed.
  • Manage quality programs required for OFCI utility equipment.
  • Review and advise on organizational documents, agreements, and contracts to ensure document accuracy, protection of company interests, and legal, tax, and other regulatory compliance.
  • Provide ongoing portfolio analysis and recommendations as needed, including income, expenses and capital projects.
  • Collaborate with HR to optimize recruitment, training, compliance, performance management, compensation, and company culture, ensuring strong employee relations and organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements are met for owners, lenders, investors, and government entities.
  • Prepare annual budgets for all portfolio properties and entities.
  • Stay abreast of outstanding operational and management issues across the portfolio.
  • Lead preventative maintenance program to ensure assets within the supervised portfolio meet company requirements.
  • Review and understand management agreements and other related documents pertaining to existing and new or proposed projects and provide input as requested.
