We are actively hiring for a Director, User Experience - Remote Your Role: The Director of User Experience (UX) leads the strategy, operations, and execution of digital experience design across the enterprise. This role shapes the vision and delivery of intuitive, accessible, and customer-centered experiences across all digital products, including quoting, policy, service, and internal platforms. This leader will oversee a multidisciplinary UX organization and will play a central role in modernizing our digital ecosystem through improved design systems, scalable UX processes, and strong collaboration across product, engineering, brand, and customer experience teams. The ideal candidate excels in both strategy and execution, brings strong systems thinking, and thrives leading teams through complexity and transformation.

Requirements

  • 10–12+ years of UX, product design, service design, or digital experience leadership, ideally within insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
  • Proven ability to lead others directly or indirectly, as demonstrated through 5+ years of leading teams, enterprise-wide programs, or large cross-functional programs with at least 2 of those years directly managing others.
  • Experience leading UX in complex enterprise environments, including platform modernization or large-scale systems transformation
  • Deep expertise in design systems, interaction design patterns, and scaling design across teams and technology stacks
  • Proven ability to partner with engineering, architecture, and product leaders to deliver integrated digital experiences
  • Strong portfolio (or team portfolio) demonstrating strategic thinking, systems design, and measurable impact
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, simplify complexity, and enable teams to operate with clarity and purpose
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive experience design

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Experience Vision Define and drive the enterprise UX strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities and our broader digital transformation roadmap.
  • Lead UX direction for large-scale platform modernization, ensuring experiences are cohesive, scalable, and customer-focused.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Brand and CX to deliver experiences that reflect our brand promise and meet customer needs.
  • Advance UX maturity through improved processes, design standards, governance models, tooling, and operating rhythms.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development Lead, grow, and mentor a multidisciplinary team including UX Strategists, Designers, Content Strategists, and Design System practitioners.
  • Establish clear goals, expectations, and quality benchmarks that align to enterprise delivery needs.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture rooted in craft excellence, continuous learning, and shared ownership.
  • Design System Leadership Oversee the evolution, governance, and enterprise adoption of a component-based design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and design-code alignment across products.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure the design system supports front-end frameworks, accessibility requirements, and responsive design standards.
  • Promote consistent interaction patterns, visual language, and content standards across the digital ecosystem.
  • Experience Strategy, Research & Delivery Excellence Ensure teams deliver strong UX artifacts—including discovery insights, journey flows, wireframes, prototypes, content, visual design, and development-ready specifications.
  • Strengthen UX intake, prioritization, resource planning, and visibility to support ongoing enhancements and new product development.
  • Partner with Research, Insights, and Analytics teams to operationalize qualitative and quantitative data as drivers of design decisions.
  • Embed accessibility, inclusivity, and compliance practices into all design processes.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence Serve as a senior UX representative in enterprise planning, roadmap discussions, and decision-making forums.
  • Clearly communicate design rationale, tradeoffs, and insights to senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Build strong partnerships across the organization to influence technology choices, product direction, and experience outcomes.
  • Collaborates closely with engineering and architecture teams to ensure UX design aligns with API-driven integration and enterprise-scale digital platforms, enabling consistent, scalable customer experiences.
