The Director, Transplant Services is responsible for the direction and management of the operational, financial, programmatic and personnel activities for Transplant Services under the direction of the Chief of Transplant Services and the Dir, Surgery. This position is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of all Transplant Services activities, personnel and faculty management, budgeting, cost control, contract review, marketing and planning. The Director works closely with a variety of entities, coordinating the activities of the service line across the enterprise and represents the interests of Transplant at all times. The Director plays a leading role in five critical areas: 1) transplant operations management, 2) financial management, 3) program development and marketing, 4) coordination and liaison, and 5) strategic and business planning.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years relevant experience in the management and administration of a large academic unit, preferably one with multiple missions that require the integration of clinical care with a high level of scholarly performance.
  • Broad knowledge of modern health care administration, principles and practices within a managed care environment and/or an academic medical center.
  • In-depth knowledge of managerial accounting for health care organizations and of hospital and clinical operations.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and administration as applied to the management and direction of personnel within areas of accountability.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques used in negotiation as applied to service contracts and equipment purchasing.
  • Effective organizational, planning, controlling scheduling and project management abilities.
  • The successful candidate will be personally effective and indicate a past history of success in achieving organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience in financial and programmatic presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to negotiate, resolve conflicts and build teams.
  • Ability to function independently and have creativity and vision as well as the ability to deal with multiple, simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for all personal actions and for the timely achievement of job responsibilities.
  • Ability to recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and develop goals for professional growth and achievement.
