RRD is dedicated to fostering a dynamic work environment that promotes professional growth and a significant impact on patients' lives.Reporting StructureReports To:         General Manager, RRD North America Direct Reports:    2 Associate Directors and a growing North America training team supporting Commercial, Market Access, and Disease State training across business units.Areas Managed:    North America Disease State and Product Training across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Field Reimbursement and Patient ServicesOverviewThe Director of Training will lead the North America training function and manage a team of training managers responsible for disease-state and product education across Endocrinology, Hematology, Oncology, and Metabolic Disorders. This role drives executional excellence and organizational effectiveness by delivering consistent, high-impact learning solutions across Commercial, Market Access, and Medical Affairs.  The Director will partner with the franchise heads to align the North America training strategy and establishes enterprise standards for capability development across Commercial, Market Access, Patient Services and Medical Affairs functions. This leader will define and lead training strategies aligned with business objectives and portfolio growth priorities. This role will have oversight in creating high-impact, customized training solutions that build the knowledge, skills, and mindset of all of our Business Units, market access, and medical affairs organizations in support of our associates, customers, and growing portfolio of products. Partnering closely with franchise leadership and cross-functional teams including but not limited to marketing, payer and patient services, medical affairs, HR and others, the incumbent will develop and implement learning & development programs that cultivate the necessary talent and skills to achieve strategic long-term objectives across RRD’s entire portfolio. The team leader will ensure the training managers address the full range of learning needs—prioritizing the delivery of commercial training, disease-state and product education, while also providing role-specific development for Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Field Reimbursement, and Market Access. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant progressive experience across Sales, Training, and Marketing functions within the pharmaceutical industry, with experience supporting medical affairs, clinical education, or disease-state/scientific content strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years leading high-performing Training, Learning & Development, or Commercial Capability teams. 
  • Demonstrated experience translating strategy into scalable execution through tools, processes, and insights.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled in identifying risks and opportunities, with a relentless drive to remove inefficiencies.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with comfort and experience communicating across all levels of the organization as well as with vendors and agencies.
  • Experience leading and operating in a matrixed organization with strong cross-functional collaboration to achieve training and development objectives with advanced communication, leadership, and project management competencies.
  • Experience in management of necessary resources (headcount and budget) to enable and support the development and execution plans.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee training strategy across each Business Unit, Market Access, and Medical Affairs, ensuring continuous enhancement of learning platforms and customer engagement capabilities within Recordati Rare Diseases North America.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective and compliant training programs that support all aspects of the entire RRD portfolio. The team leader will ensure development and delivery of training across multiple areas: medical/clinical knowledge (disease state and product knowledge, competitor landscape), non-clinical expertise (managed care landscape, reimbursement process, and market trends) and functional expertise (selling skills, objection handling, other)
  • Consistent deployment of techniques to deliver training programs that are engaging, actionable, scalable, and results driven. Ensure consistency of field-based associates’ capabilities, messaging, and execution for both market, brand and disease state knowledge, and partner with Medical Affairs to ensure aligned and accurate disease-state and clinical training.
  • Lead governance and strategic utilization of the Learning Management System (LMS) to enable scalable training, continuous development, and enterprise-wide capability building, supporting both commercial and medical/disease-state learning needs.
  • Ensure that the team is conducting regular needs analysis and maintain a forward-looking perspective on the evolving competitive landscape to ensure programs are relevant, differentiated, and impactful in collaboration with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, Field Reimbursement, and Market Access partners.
  • Define strategic direction and provide leadership oversight for the planning, design, development, and implementation of training solutions and learning technologies to support training needs.
  • Lead, build, and develop a team of cross-functional experts, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Ensure development, delivery, and facilitation of high impact training sessions, including New Hire/Onboarding, Continuous Advanced Training, workshops, and learning experiences for cycle/POA meetings that strengthen product fluency, scientific acumen, and consultative selling skills for commercial, FRM, market access, and medical stakeholders where appropriate.
  • In conjunction with HR, develop the design, delivery, and ongoing refinement of leadership development programs focused on elevating frontline and mid-level manager capabilities—ensuring stronger coaching, performance management, strategic execution, and overall people leadership effectiveness across the organization.
  • Partner with sales leadership to ensure field observations and capability assessments are conducted to evaluate training effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities. Partner with Medical Affairs to ensure alignment on disease-state and clinical competency expectations.
  • Develop an annual training plan and budget in alignment with Franchise Leadsto support new-hire onboarding, ongoing development, regional and national meetings, vendor engagement, and professional development initiatives across all functions requiring commercial, clinical, and disease-state training.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure training effectiveness, capability development, and impact on organizational performance and launch readiness.
