The Director Telecommunications is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the administrative and technical aspects of LiveOnNY’s communication systems (voice, data and video), leading telecommunications strategy, and complying with regulations to achieve business objectives. The Director Telecommunications manages responsive, secure and scalable telecommunications systems, develops and oversees telecommunications projects and ensures that telecommunication delivery aligns with business goals, including on-going and enhanced capabilities. In this role, you will report directly to and work closely with the Vice President, Chief Administrative and Technology Officer, as well as work with the Chief Architect and Information Technology Engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field is required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in and demonstrated understanding of telecommunications and call center management.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and telecommunications software, including call trees, message development, reporting and dashboards.
  • Knowledge of the principles of quality improvement.
  • Ability to teach, train and work as a team member.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with managing complex telecommunications or communications requirements and projects
  • Ability to align applicable resources with project schedules, ensuring milestones are met
  • Possess a strong background in telecommunications management, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to help navigate LiveOnNY’s communications needs
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service skills, capable of managing escalated situations with professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff including collaboration with Executive Leadership
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills

  • Previous experience in a position with substantially similar responsibilities, in both level of complexity and size of the telecommunications operation, is preferred.
  • Previous design of a multi-vendor or telecommunications environment/infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with project management, resource allocation and milestone delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Telecommunications Strategy: Define and implement long- and short-term telecommunications strategies, including phone systems, call recording and network services.
  • Telecommunications Implementation and Maintenance: Lead initiatives to modernize and adopt new telecommunication technologies and integrate them into the business to improve operations. Oversee the installation, maintenance, repair, and security of telecommunications hardware and software. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing applications.
  • Proven Understanding of Telecommunications: Coordinates and scheduled efficient and timely responses to requests for telecommunications services by serving as the primary liaison to LiveOnNY’s business and IT departments. An understanding of voice, and telecommunications design, protocols, and products is required. This includes telephone switches, voice mail systems, call record data collection and other related telecommunications equipment coupled with the ability to solve management, technical, installation, scheduling, and other related problems.
  • IT Budgeting and Management: Participate in the creation of the Telecommunications budget making recommendations for investments and resource allocation.
  • Team Leadership and Communication: Manage and develop the telecommunication department's staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical business customers, stakeholders, and other teams to define requirements, provide training and resolve issues.
  • Security: Works in partnership with Information Technology to ensure appropriate security measures are in place to protect telecommunications from intrusion.
  • Quality and Compliance: Enforce technical standards and best practices and ensure the efficient operation of the Telecommunications Department. Assures telecommunications compliance with federal, state and city laws, as well as, company rules, regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage telecommunications risks and assure compliance with federal, state, and city telecommunications laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
