About The Position

The Director, Technology – Professional Relations & Operations (PR&O) will serve as the strategic technology leader responsible for shaping, executing, and continuously evolving the technology strategy for the Professional Relations & Operations domain within Project Butterfly—Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s global commercial transformation program. This individual will define and drive the digital ecosystem that powers our Professional Relations, Grants, Events, and Contracting experiences for healthcare professionals worldwide, ensuring alignment with our enterprise vision for a harmonized global customer engagement platform. The Director will oversee end-to-end technology delivery across platforms such as EngageGlobal, Grant Management, & Events, partnering across regions and business units to drive scalability, compliance, and user experience excellence. This leader will partner closely with business product owners, enterprise architecture, and platform engineering teams to deliver a secure, compliant, and data-driven experience that supports MedTech’s mission to enable trusted professional engagement through technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience in large-scale enterprise programs, preferably in life sciences or healthcare.
  • Proven experience leading global product or platform delivery within CRM, workflow, or event management ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of Professional Relations, HCP Engagement, Grants, and Compliance processes.
  • Deep knowledge of agile delivery frameworks (SAFe preferred) and experience leading multiple ARTs or large solution trains.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional business leaders to align technology strategy with business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and executive-level stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Business Administration.
  • Experience implementing or modernizing technologies such as MS Dynamics, Salesforce, Cvent, or ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of Digital Asset Management, Copy Approval, Learning Management, and/or Mixed Reality solutions.
  • Prior experience with data integration, identity management, and regulated system validation.
  • SAFe Agilist, Architect, or RTE certification.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision Define the technology strategy and roadmap for PR&O aligned to the broader Butterfly platform vision (80% harmonization / 20% regional flexibility).
  • Serve as the technology voice for PR&O within the Butterfly program, ensuring the domain’s architecture aligns with enterprise standards while enabling business innovation.
  • Partner with senior business stakeholders to co-shape priorities across Professional Relations, Grants, Events, and Contracting, translating strategic outcomes into actionable technical roadmaps.
  • Delivery & Execution Excellence Lead multiple global agile release trains and technology teams across PR&O solutions, ensuring predictable delivery, performance, and scalability.
  • Oversee platform modernization and consolidation initiatives across existing tools (e.g., EngageGlobal, Cvent, internal Grant Systems, and contracting platforms) to deliver a unified, data-centric experience.
  • Drive delivery of secure, compliant, and high-quality software products in alignment with J&J’s technology risk and quality standards.
  • Partner with Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Solution Architects, and Product Owners to ensure alignment between solution intent, architecture, and execution.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management Build strong relationships across Professional Relations & Operations, Legal, HCC, Compliance, and Finance to ensure end-to-end processes are digitized and compliant.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Butterfly leadership team, contributing to global platform strategy, release planning, and technology investment decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Engage domain leads to enable seamless cross-domain customer journeys.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement Champion adoption of next-generation technologies (AI/ML, workflow automation, and analytics) to streamline professional engagement and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation, data reuse, and harmonization across regions and business units.
  • Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, technical excellence, and agility across all PR&O technology teams.
  • People Leadership Lead and develop a global team of Technology Product Managers, Engineers, and Architects, fostering collaboration, accountability, and growth.
  • Empower teams to deliver through SAFe agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices.
