Position Purpose Reporting to the Deputy Chief Information Officer, the incumbent takes the institution’s business strategy and business requirements to define the IT strategies and the roadmap that improves IT and institution alignment over time. Provides strategic oversight to the Technology Enablement unit, including Enterprise Architecture and Emerging Technologies, and incubating new technologies to deliver organizational value. The role defines architecture principles, standards and strategies that guide the evolution of IT assets and projects for the institution. The incumbent is responsible to integrate business requirements, applications, data and solution portfolios, business models and evaluation of opportunities with the University’s objectives to increase efficiency, minimize costs and capitalize on the potential of cost savings. This role requires strong strategic communication and collaboration with deans, executives, internal and external stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional peers to secure alignment and commitment for new initiatives and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field; graduate studies preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in information systems with strong focus on Enterprise Architecture.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to translate business strategies into secure, scalable technology solutions.
  • Expertise in EA and Solution Architecture, including data strategy and governance.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, multi-cloud, containerization, and serverless technologies.
  • Skilled in API management, event-driven architecture, and integration platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity architecture and Zero Trust principles.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, automation, and emerging technologies.
  • Proficiency with EA frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and modern practices (Agile, DevSecOps).
  • Hands-on experience with architecture tools and major cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present, lead workshops, and produce clear documentation (e.g., white papers).
  • Proven ability to drive innovation and modernization initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with executives, managers, architects, project managers, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Advanced analytical and strategic thinking to forecast trends and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Proficiency in technical concepts and terminology, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to convert emerging trends into practical, business-ready solutions.
  • Influencing skills to gain buy-in from peers and stakeholders.
  • Solid business acumen combined with collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with emerging technologies, enterprise architecture frameworks, cloud environments, or AI implementations is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross‑functional initiatives and communicate strategic technology concepts to senior leaders is a valuable asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve the University’s enterprise architecture, applying deep technical and strategic expertise to ensure alignment with institutional goals and compliance throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Lead and govern emerging technology adoption across the institution, setting strategic direction, defining roadmaps, and making high-impact decisions to deliver value and maintain competitiveness.
  • Establish enterprise architecture principles and data standards that guide complex solution design, ensuring consistency and best practices across the organization.
  • Define solution standards and reference architectures to ensure technical designs align with enterprise objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Champion technology adoption and communicate the strategic value and measurable outcomes of architecture deliverables to senior leadership and stakeholders.
