About The Position

The Director / Team Lead, Contract Development & Strategy is a critical, cross-functional leadership role within the GH&B U.S. Commercial Contracting & Rebate Operations organization. This role partners closely with Contract Management, Rebate Operations, Account Management, Portfolio Teams, Government Pricing, Legal, Trade, Sales, and Digital to shape and continuously improve contracting strategies and the contract development lifecycle across U.S. Sterile Injectables, Surgical, and Biosimilar portfolios. This leader manages a high-performing team responsible for developing innovative, market-responsive contracting strategies and for drafting, standardizing, and negotiating contract language, templates, and terms that reflect strategic intent, mitigate risk, and enable compliant execution. The Director / Team Lead, Contract Development & Strategy serves as a strategic, analytical, and operational thought partner to the Contracting & Rebate Operations Lead and other U.S. Commercial and internal Pfizer stakeholders, leveraging complex data sets and robust tools to inform decision-making, quantify financial impact, and guide negotiations while ensuring adherence to all laws, regulations, and Pfizer policies.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of pharmaceutical or institutional contracting, strategy, and/or market access experience, including direct experience with GPOs, IDNs, and institutional customers.
  • Bachelor Degree required.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial acumen with demonstrated ability to work with large, complex datasets and decision-support tools.
  • Expert-level knowledge of contract development, agreement drafting, industry standards, and applicable legal andregulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing high-performing teams and influencing across complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership and external partners.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • This position requires permanent work authorization in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cross-functional leadership across Contract Strategy, Contract Development, Contract Management, Rebate Operations, Account Management, Portfolio, Legal, Trade, Sales, Government Pricing, and Digital to ensure end-to-end alignment from strategy through execution.
  • Lead and support high-complexity, high-value negotiations with key external customers including GPOs, IDNs, Institutions, Alternate Sites, and Trade partners.
  • Maintain deep understanding of healthcare market trends, customer economics, competitive dynamics, and channel evolution to inform strategic and contractual decisions.
  • Ensure all strategies, agreements, and processes adhere to legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements and Pfizer policies.
  • Drive process excellence, continuous improvement, and effective use of systems and tools across the contracting lifecycle.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, setting clear priorities, building capabilities, and guiding colleagues through organizational and marketplace change.
  • Develop and evaluate product-, portfolio-, and channel-level contracting strategies across GPO, Hospital/IDN, Trade, and Alternate Site segments.
  • Design innovative contracting programs and pricing strategies that respond to market dynamics and support long-term portfolio growth.
  • Lead advanced data and analytics efforts, including extraction, cleansing, and analysis of large, complex datasets to support strategy development and negotiation planning.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, models, dashboards, and forecasting resources to quantify financial impact and support decision-making.
  • Translate complex analytical insights into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner with Portfolio, PCO, and Account Management teams to align contracting strategies with brand and portfolio objectives.
  • Lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex Institutional, GPO, and IDN agreements in support of GH&B U.S. Commercial strategies.
  • Own the development, maintenance, and governance of all contract templates, standard clauses, and agreement language.
  • Innovate contract language and concepts that create competitive advantage while effectively managing legal and business risk.
  • Serve as the internal expert on contract terms and conditions and the impact of evolving healthcare laws and regulations on customer agreements.
  • Provide guidance and clear messaging to GH&B U.S. Commercial Leadership, Account Management, Contract Strategy, Contract Management, and other stakeholders on contractual positions and implications.
  • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with Account Management, Legal, Compliance, and key external customers to facilitate successful negotiations.
