Position Summary The Director of TA-Portfolio Strategy will be responsible for helping to shape and execute portfolio-level strategies as well as Therapeutic Area (TA) strategies and facilitate active TA-level portfolio management. This position reports to the Vice President, Portfolio Strategy, but will support TA-aligned Portfolio Strategy Leaders, working closely with them to create strategies and facilitate portfolio management. This individual will demonstrate cross-functional business acumen and have demonstrated experience in strategy development, execution and managing decisions/choices across a portfolio. Additionally, this individual will work closely with other team members across Enterprise Strategy (e.g., Portfolio Analytics, Competitive Intelligence, Enterprise Governance) to drive analytics, gather inputs, and ensure operationalization of TA-level portfolio management.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent required; Advanced degree preferred, including business or scientific concentrations (MBA, MD/PhD, PharmD)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in pharma with cross-functional expertise (e.g., Commercial, R&D, corporate / business unit strategy) either directly within a pharma company or via work at a top-tier consulting firm
  • Understanding of financial and portfolio analytics from a broad range of lenses. Specific experience should include portfolio-level resource allocation and scenario planning
  • Proven ability to develop executive-ready presentations coupled with strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Robust and practical understanding of clinical development, commercialization, external policy, and competitive dynamics shaping the pharma industry. Experience in mobilizing matrix team members, embracing teamwork and project management within a cross-functional environment will be critical
  • Demonstrated agility in prioritizing and navigating competing demands with autonomy
  • Therapeutic area experience in one or more BMS TAs (Oncology, Hematology, Cardiovascular, Neuroscience or Immunology) required

Responsibilities

  • Supporting TA-aligned Portfolio Strategy Leaders to: Formulate concise recommendations to inform Disease and Therapeutic Area strategies and trade-off discussions
  • Develop clear strategic narratives and recommendations for key senior management reviews and presentations
  • Working on portfolio level processes, including but not limited to Portfolio Prioritization, Active Portfolio Management, etc.
