THE ROLE This leadership role oversees Infrastructure, Cloud, Platform Engineering and Platform Support at MFS, managing both strategic direction and day-to-day operations. The role leads through Sr. Managers and Directors and has full accountability to ensure availability, performance, and evolution of platform engineering and L1/L2 platform support; and infrastructure technologies across global offices—especially focusing on Microsoft Azure, open systems (Linux/Unix/Windows), storage optimization, and database platforms. The ideal candidate is a visionary, hands-on leader with deep technical expertise, strong business alignment, and a passion for operational excellence, innovation, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years in IT within financial services, with 7+ years in management.
  • Deep technical expertise in infrastructure, cloud migration, systems architecture, databases, platform engineering and support models.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing global IT operations, including off-hours support.
  • Proven ability to coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Skilled in vendor management, contract negotiation, and setting service expectations.
  • Committed to technology best practices and standardization.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Leadership & Strategy Lead Infrastructure, Cloud, Platform Engineering and Platform Support. This includes and is not limited to: Cloud (Azure), servers, storage, databases (Oracle, SQL, Sybase), and data center operations.
  • Define Infrastructure, Cloud, Platform Engineering and Platform Support strategies/roadmaps that support MFS’ business goals and align with corporate IT direction.
  • Ensure 24/7 systems availability across corporate headquarters and satellite offices.
  • Team Management & Talent Development Direct and mentor managers across teams such as Platform Engineering/Support, Database Services, UNIX/Windows Systems, Web Services, and Storage.
  • Oversee hiring, training, performance management, and career development.
  • Set departmental goals and ensure alignment with organizational standards.
  • Operational & Project Execution Manage large-scale platform engineering/support and infrastructure projects, including planning, budgeting, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards and controls to meet audit, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Lead efforts to remediate audit/security gaps with clear operating plans.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement Build and maintain relationships with vendors, managing contract negotiations and SLAs.
  • Collaborate across departments and with Business Relationship Managers to ensure technology solutions align with business needs.
  • Present infrastructure strategies and updates to senior leadership.
  • Budget & Policy Oversight Develop and manage budgets for assigned areas and contribute to broader GIT financial planning.
  • Propose and refine policies to improve resource efficiency, service delivery, and compliance.
