About The Position

The Director, Supply Chain Sustainability Strategy will play a pivotal role in embedding decarbonization into decision making throughout Mastercard’s global procurement processes. This individual will partner closely with internal stakeholders to drive sustainable purchasing behaviors across the company, embed carbon visibility into company supplier decisions, and communicate the associated emissions impact.—making. This role will report directly to our Vice President of Environmental Sustainability.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading change management initiatives within a large company.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast paced setting with shifting priorities volume, fast paced setting with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple assignments independently in a virtual or hybrid environment.
  • Experience building, launching, and scaling new programs or processes within a complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of greenhouse gas accounting, particularly Scope 3 emissions and supply chain impacts.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an embedded partner within Sourcing and the broader business to influence sustainable purchasing decisions at scale.

  • Lead change management efforts to establish carbon impact as a standard input into purchasing evaluations and business case development.
  • Collaborate with internal finance teams to improve data visibility and documentation of purchases, enabling more accurate Scope 3 supply chain emissions accounting.
  • Engage Finance teams to track major future expenditures and communicate the carbon implications of proposed expenditures.
  • Conduct market and industry research on high spend categories to identify sustainability trends, risks, and decarbonization opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver training programs that support internal stakeholders in adopting sustainable procurement practices.
  • Quantify, prioritize, and communicate procurement levers that advance Mastercard’s decarbonization goals.
