About The Position

Mercer University, an NCAA Division I Institution and a member of the Southern Conference is accepting applications for the position of Director of Strength & Conditioning. Primary responsibilities will include the design and implementation of year round strength and conditioning programs for Division I athletics teams, teaching proper technique in various strength, speed, agility, conditioning and explosive movements, testing and evaluating the student-athlete's performance, compliance with all appropriate university, Southern Conference and NCAA Rules and Regulations. The object of the position is to enhance the student-athlete's strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, power, and agility. The welfare and safety of the student-athlete should always be a priority. This position will also develop and implement the philosophy of the Strength and Conditioning Department while also setting a positive example and setting up the Strength and Conditioning staff for success. This position will also be required to motivate and inspire student-athletes, coaches, and staff to be successful while staying up to date on current trends through continuing education.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field from an accredited university/college
  • 2 years of prior experience work as a strength and conditioning coach with team sports in a collegiate or professional setting
  • Current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) certification
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with excellent organizational skills
  • Must be able to work on weekends, mornings, evenings, and some holidays
  • Some travel may also be required
  • The ability to effectively communicate with university personnel, including coaches, student-athletes, support staff, and athletic administration
  • Organizational skills
  • Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs. overhead with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness to work on weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays
