About The Position

The Director, Strategy Advancement leads HHR's Shared Services team, providing critical strategy development, technology services, and operational support across multiple research teams. This role ensures continuous improvement, efficiency, compliance, and high-quality execution of research activities. The Director, Strategy Advancement leads HHR's Shared Services team, providing critical strategy development, technology services, and operational support across multiple research teams. Requirements

  • Master's Degree
  • 8 or more years of technical experience including research or research operations, analytics, data management, information technology, or finance
  • Experience with identifying and implementing technology capabilities in large organizations-- especially those requiring partnership with IT and procurement departments-- to further efficiencies and revenue capability
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Strong operational leadership and project management skills.
  • Ability to drive strategic initiatives and foster collaboration across teams.
  • Experience with P&L responsibilities or budget management responsibilities

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with research operations, research compliance standards, and research regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with research tools, technology implementation, and process optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Innovation: Leads initiatives to address complex business challenges, support strategic planning, and drive innovation and process improvement. Partners with subject matter experts across functions to deliver actionable insights and recommendations. Develops and implements new tools and technologies (e.g., AI, API‑based data sourcing) to improve efficiency, profitability, and research quality, while identifying opportunities to streamline operations and strengthen research infrastructure.
  • Research Tools Oversight: Oversees maintenance and optimization of research tools, including statistical software, literature repositories, AI tools for research, and various project and activities tracking systems.
  • Driving Financial Performance: In collaboration with AVP of Humana Healthcare Research and Enterprise Finance team, co-manages HHR's P&L responsibilities including strategic budget development, revenue and expense forecasting, procurement governance, and ensuring consistent, compliant, and timely invoicing practices.
  • Compliance: Ensures that policies and procedures align with HHR's vision. Oversees research policies and procedures to support adherence to human subject research regulations and contractual obligations with clients and vendors.
  • Shared Resource Management: Coordinates services such as medical writing, project management, and legal support to enable successful research delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Directs and manages the Shared Services team to support research operations across diverse research groups (currently 5FTEs)
