About The Position

Solar Landscape is hiring a Director, Strategic Transactions to lead the execution of complex, high-impact commercial transactions supporting the company’s expansion into new markets and new partnership models across the United States. As Solar Landscape continues to work with key players across the energy landscape to unlock innovative pathways for distributed clean energy deployment, this role will sit at the center of those efforts. The Director, Strategic Transactions will serve as the single point of ownership for transaction execution, taking mature opportunities from internal handoff through negotiated agreements and internal close. This is a senior, highly visible role for an experienced transactions professional who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving first-of-their-kind problems, and can translate complex commercial concepts into executable, repeatable outcomes. The role will lead a small, dedicated execution team and works closely with executive leadership on some of the company’s most strategic initiatives. This role will be based in the NY / NJ metro area and is expected to be in-office 3–4 days per week.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in transaction execution roles at a renewable energy developer, IPP, infrastructure investor, or similar organization.
  • Extensive experience negotiating PPAs and other long-term offtake or commercial energy agreements.
  • Demonstrated experience executing asset sales, portfolio divestments, or structured transactions.
  • Strong understanding of distributed and front-of-meter power project development and economics.
  • Proven ability to lead complex negotiations and manage multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Transaction Ownership & Execution: Own execution of strategic partnership transactions from internal handoff through executed agreements and internal closeout. Lead negotiations across PPAs, offtake agreements, framework agreements, development agreements, and other bespoke commercial structures. Maintain transaction momentum by driving issue resolution, coordinating stakeholders, and enforcing clear decision timelines.
  • Commercial Negotiation: Serve as Solar Landscape’s primary commercial negotiator with key players across the energy landscape. Negotiate pricing, term, credit support, change-in-law, curtailment, termination, assignment, and expansion provisions. Ensure negotiated outcomes are executable, financeable, and aligned with development and operational realities.
  • Asset Sales & Structured Transactions: Lead execution of asset sales, portfolio divestments, and structured sell-downs in support of partnership strategies and market entry. Coordinate diligence, transaction documentation, and closing mechanics in collaboration with Finance and Legal teams. Support valuation, structuring, and buyer negotiations related to project- and portfolio-level dispositions.
  • Program Build & Repeatability: Translate bespoke, first-of-kind transactions into scalable commercial frameworks, templates, and internal playbooks. Identify opportunities to standardize terms, risk allocation, and execution processes across markets and counterparties. Provide structured feedback to origination and leadership teams to continuously improve transaction quality and efficiency.
  • Internal Leadership & Coordination: Lead and manage a dedicated execution team for Strategic Transactions. Coordinate cross-functional execution across Development, Business Development, Business Operations, Engineering, Finance, Policy, and Legal teams. Act as the point of escalation for deal-critical issues and drive informed tradeoff decisions.
  • Executive Communication: Prepare concise, executive-level materials summarizing transaction status, economics, risks, and recommendations. Maintain clear communication with senior leadership on timing, complexity, and resource requirements.
