This is Caterpillar The Strategic Procurement & Planning Division (SPPD) within Caterpillar’s Resource Industries segment is responsible for designing, developing, and connecting world-class capabilities to create value across the entire ecosystem – from the supply base through our manufacturing process – to connect with our dealers and customers. Caterpillar’s Strategic Procurement & Planning Division is seeking a dynamic Director Strategic Supplier Quality to establish, monitor and optimize our short-term and long-term supply facing quality strategies, and aligns them with business goals. This role will report to the Vice President of Procurement within SPPD and will hold a pivotal role in our mission to connect the physical and digital worlds of Caterpillar’s supply value chain to transform the way we do business and maximize our competitive advantage.

Requirements

Data Analytics: Knowledge of techniques and processes for inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modeling data; ability to discover useful information, draw logical conclusions, and support decision-making
Global Perspective: Knowledge of issues, opportunities, and challenges for conducting business in the international marketplace; ability to apply global perspectives appropriately in a wide range of situations
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization
Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there
Stakeholder Management: Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them
Quality Management: Expertise in quality processes including APQP, PPAP, root cause corrective action, LEAN, and continuous improvement.
Bachelor’s degree and significant experience in quality or procurement related roles with increasing responsibility

Responsibilities

Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to understand business goals and determine the requirements and scope for supply based quality projects accordingly
Establish KPIs to monitor supplier quality performance, process adherence, track and recover cost impacts, and assess supplier risk
Lead a global team that delivers global supplier quality capabilities that deliver optimal supplier performance and internal process efficiency at the divisional and enterprise level. Focus is on a small team of high-level staff professionals and leader of leaders while influencing the broader enterprise organization.
Work with procurement leaders to develop innovative ways to provide enhanced service support by creating a competitive advantage and apply non-traditional solutions to new problems
