The CO+I Supply Chain Quality team is seeking an energetic and innovative Mechanical Supplier Quality Engineer with a passion for problem solving, process improvements, helping others, technology, and manufacturing operations. Requirements

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years related technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, process improvement or related experience in equipment such as Generators, Diesel Engines, Cooling systems, Thermal management (AHU/CDU), fabrications, etc.
  • Technical knowledge, ideally with experience in multiple sectors and industries
  • Experience with data center operations, EPC, or mission critical equipment
  • Experience with manufacturing environments, technical specifications
  • Lean 6 Sigma Greenbelt / Gemba experience.
  • ASQ Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Drives mechanical equipment supplier quality improvement initiatives, supports supplier selection for the region and conducts supplier audits.
  • Leads part qualification processes through implementation of product quality plans, equipment inspections, factory witness testing, and manufacturing process qualifications.
  • Assesses equipment quality and manufacturing processes to ensure suppliers meet Microsoft capabilities and requirements, address non-conformances, mitigate escaping defects that may impact sites, and develop critical supplier engagement strategies to proactively address gaps.
  • Performs root cause analysis of equipment failures.
  • Provides technical support and guidance for improving equipment reliability.
  • Partners with supply chain, engineering, construction, and vendors to identify equipment quality performance gaps, testing protocols, and implement corrective actions at suppliers.
