About The Position

We’re looking for a seasoned strategic communications leader to step into a high-impact contract role at a leading public affairs and integrated marketing agency. This is a player-coach opportunity — you’re as comfortable in the room with a C-suite executive as you are rolling up your sleeves to redline a press release or build out an editorial calendar. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and have the instincts to anticipate what a client needs before they ask.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of experience in public affairs, PR, or strategic communications — agency or political background strongly preferred.
  • Master of AP Style with the ability to pivot between creative storytelling and analytical strategic reporting.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools (Cision, Meltwater) and social media platforms.
  • Proven track record managing multi-client deliverables and leading cross-functional teams with minimal oversight.
  • Calm under pressure and able to deliver “real-time” recommendations in fast-moving, high-stakes situations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills — you make complex things simple and compelling.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Account Leadership
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for senior-level decision-makers at the client, offering real-time strategic counsel with minimal oversight.
  • Set the strategy for and oversee the execution of earned and owned media campaigns, ensuring they align with the client’s long-term goals.
  • Shepherd projects across multi-disciplinary teams — including media planning, buying, creative, measurement, and data insights — keeping everything moving and on-message.
  • Content & Media Excellence
  • Oversee the production of high-level strategic memos, communications plans, press releases, op-eds, and social media content.
  • Proactively develop earned media strategies, leveraging existing reporter relationships to place stories that move the needle on key issues.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Manage internal teams across offices to ensure quality control and adherence to tight deadlines.
  • Coach and develop junior staff, providing clear feedback and investing in their growth.
  • Business Development
  • Partner with agency leadership to identify, draft, and present proposals for new business opportunities.
  • Expand existing accounts while building trust with prospective clients through compelling presentations and pitch decks.
