This Director of Distributed Storage Engineering role spans across multiple product areas with a focus on delivering solutions to meet the demands of business-critical workloads supporting all areas of the firm's financial services. You will work with technology leadership and architects to define target architecture, establish product roadmaps, and deliver high performing, cost effective and highly reliable solutions to meet the demands of this large financial institution. As a leading member of this team you will work to evaluate business and technology strategy and direction and deliver best in class capabilities for our customers. You will be directly involved in defining vendor strategies and business cases that clearly present technological capabilities along with costs to enable executive leadership to make solid and fact-based business decisions. You will influence the direction of distributed storage services. You will be required to present these strategies clearly to executive management and regularly report on the progress of critical projects. An ideal candidate will have a solid computer science background across distributed compute and storage. Networking knowledge would be an additional skill that would enable you to stand out among the candidates. You should be very familiar with industry standards and direction. A deep understanding of multiple vendor capabilities in storage services is required. You should have a good understanding of budget processes as well as the creation of business cases to justify the acquisition of new technologies. Knowledge of cloud computing would be another differentiator. A bachelor's degree in computer science or similar discipline is preferred but not required. A strong distributed storage background as well as server experience is required via a combination of the following experiences: Proven track record of distributed storage engineering including product selection, implementation and ongoing management of critical platforms Experience supporting multiple block storage array types and vendors Experience managing large Fiber Channel Storage Area Networks (SAN) Experience supporting iSCSI protocol for large block storage arrays Critical troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify root cause for storage incidents Strong capacity management background as well as performance troubleshooting skills Possess a strong security first mindset ensuring critical systems are compliant and secure
