Summary: Responsible for directing and implementing key initiatives, programs, services and priorities at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Provides operational and clinical leadership to a continuum of spiritual care services.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree required in related field. Master's Degree Divinity or Religious studies preferred.
  • Experience in hospital spiritual care, preferably in a large teaching hospital 3-5 years preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in management preferred.
  • 1-2 years of hospital spiritual care department manager preferred.
  • Theological understanding and respect towards all faith expressions.
  • Ability to work sensitively and competently with various groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including documentation in the medical record.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of ethical and legal issues in health care.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the care options upon discharge from inpatient care, including advanced illness management in the home, hospice, and skilled nursing.
  • Compliant with HIPPA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual support to patients and their families during times of illness, injury, and loss.
  • Offer comfort, support, prayer, and other religious rituals and practices that align with patient's beliefs.
  • Plan and administer spiritual and emotional care to ensure timely and high-quality patient, family, and staff intervention.
  • Oversee and support the recruitment, onboarding, training and coordination of Spiritual Care staff and volunteers. Work in collaboration with volunteer services to meet the needs of clinical and administrative areas as necessary.
  • Oversee Clinical Pastoral Education Program (CPE) with ACPE Certified Educator.
  • Administratively and operationally manage MGB systems (Workday, UKG, STRATA) in support of the Spiritual Care Department.
