About The Position

The Strategic Sourcing team is responsible for the creation and execution of the centralized sourcing effort for Macy’s Private Brands that meets all company capability, delivery, margin and growth goals. In partnership with the merchandising organization, overseas Private Brands and business stakeholders, the Strategic Sourcing team will identify key sourcing initiatives (e.g., lead times, innovation, costing, process improvement) that will positively impact the profitability and sales of Macy’s Private Brands. Key responsibilities include defining multi-year and annual sourcing & vendor strategies that support overall company goals while managing brand exposure and mitigating risk. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or related discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years in sourcing, production, global supply chain, merchandising or management consulting.
  • 3+ years in management (Director).
  • Vast experience leveraging business acumen, market intelligence and insight to drive overall strategic goals and impact within category.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and adapt to a dynamic and global business environment.
  • Prior proven experience leading a team while driving category strategy results.
  • Proven executive presence to present, influence and collaborate with VP Strategic Sourcing and leadership team (e.g., GBMs).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and empower their team by coaching on both technical and soft skills necessary to be successful in the organization.
  • Proven track record of effectively leading teams in an ambiguous and changing environment to achieve goals and deliver results to broader organization.
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams/partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and Executes the annual and seasonal sourcing strategies and owns communication of these plans for Apparel to key stakeholders including GBMs
  • Ensure negotiated costs achieve IMU targets set by product teams by category and style
  • Defining category vendor portfolio by evaluating current vendor base & screening for new vendors based on business need
  • Build spend by vendor plans for their respective category and create FOB / Brand specific vendor menus, which they will share with FOB / Brand Sourcing Associates
  • Manage vendor score carding process, including defining evaluation metrics and owning final decision on vendor performance
  • Partner across numerous internal teams (e.g., Supply Planning, OSO Merchants, Product) and levels as well as external stakeholders (e.g., vendors) to drive results and influence change
  • Collaborate with other Sourcing Directors to identify global sourcing risks and opportunities for Macy’s PB across categories, coordinate key research of competitors for countries of origin/timing/flow/fabrics and styles
  • Prepare for and host annual Vendor Summit
  • Travel overseas for vendor visits (existing and new), sourcing events and conferences
  • Represent Macy’s Private Brands at sourcing conferences and events and in sourcing industry groups
  • Oversee FOB / Brand Sourcing Associates who will interface with the business (e.g., Product, Design)
  • Applicant must be willing to travel overseas to better manage and build relationships with vendors as well as meet with potential new vendors – travel / time requirement up to 20%
  • Applicant should have deep understanding of key strategic sourcing functions (e.g., vendor selection, contract management, negotiations, costing, etc.) and sufficient background knowledge regarding materials, trade regulations, and country requirements
