About The Position

Position Summary... What you'll do... Role summary: The Director of Software Engineering leads the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives. This role oversees architecture, coding standards, testing strategies, and continuous integration processes to ensure high-quality, secure, and efficient products. The position requires driving cross-functional collaboration, managing technical risks, and fostering innovation while mentoring engineering teams. The Director is responsible for aligning technology roadmaps with organizational goals, optimizing program performance, and advancing software capabilities to support Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. About the team: The Walmart AdTech Measurement engineering team leads the development of core measurement technologies that support Walmart’s advertising business growth. This team builds foundational platforms for attribution, sales lift, and unified measurement across multiple channels, enabling scalable and reliable solutions for advertisers. Collaborating closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and Research teams, they drive innovation and technical excellence. The team fosters a high-performance environment focused on delivering impactful solutions that serve hundreds of millions of users, advancing Walmart’s position in the AdTech industry through strategic leadership and cross-functional partnership.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in leadership roles, with building advertising products with a focus on ads measurement.
  • Experience hiring and growing engineering managers and ICs.
  • Strong track record in coaching senior engineers and leaders.
  • Experience managing remote or hybrid teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong full-stack experience across scalable web, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Focus on quality, including testing, monitoring, and deployment
  • Experience with experimentation and data-driven development.
  • Ability to contribute to product strategy and design reviews.
  • Strong understanding of Ads and measurement platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • The ideal candidate would have knowledge of accessibility best practices and join us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across product, engineering, design, architecture, and operations to prioritize new features and improvements.
  • Lead the design and delivery of scalable systems that align with business goals and technology plans.
  • Mentor engineers and support their growth while building a strong culture of technical quality and innovation.
  • Drive key business and engineering metrics, and make decisions based on them.
  • Oversee requirements, assess risks, and define solutions that meet customer and business needs.
  • Set clear standards for code quality, security, and deployment to ensure reliable software delivery.
  • Drive CI/CD practices and track key metrics to improve efficiency and system reliability.
