Requirements

  • 12+ years of senior software engineering experience, with 5+ years of technical leadership guiding teams of 8–12 engineers.
  • Deep software engineering expertise, with strong fundamentals in architecture, design patterns, reliability, automation, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub SCM, GitHub Actions, GitHub Advanced Security, and enterprise-scale CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of Groovy-based Jenkins pipelines, reusable components, and composable pipeline design.
  • SRE-oriented mindset, building systems that are resilient, observable, automated, and scalable across large engineering organizations.
  • Skilled in automation, observability, and infrastructure/tooling that improves developer experience and platform reliability.
  • Proficient in API/web service design and integration patterns.
  • Experienced modernizing legacy tooling and pipelines, driving migrations toward cloud-native, secure, best in class developer platforms.
  • Excellent communicator, able to simplify complex topics and influence alignment across engineering, product, and leadership stakeholders.
  • Strong mentor and technical coach, leveraging pairing, reviews, and hands-on leadership to grow engineering capability.
  • Highly knowledgeable in SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and high-velocity delivery models, with a track record of improving engineering productivity and flow.
  • Deep understanding of code quality, performance engineering, and developer productivity metrics (e.g., PR cycle time, code churn, commit patterns).
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages, such as Java, C#, or similar modern languages.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure services, IAM controls, automation patterns, and cloud security.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes (upstream or managed) and containerized, ephemeral workload design.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native observability stacks and infrastructure automation approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 8–12 engineers to deliver GitHub SCM governance, repo architecture, permissions models, and branch protection standards.
  • Drive enterprise GitHub Actions workflows and runner strategies that provide scalable, resilient CI/CD.
  • Advance GitHub Advanced Security adoption (CodeQL, Dependabot, secret scanning) and embed secure by default patterns into pipelines.
  • Champion GitHub Copilot and AI assisted engineering, establishing best practices and measurable productivity gains.
  • Develop and maintain composable Groovy based Jenkins pipelines integrated tightly with GitHub SCM and Actions.
  • Automate CI/CD guardrails to enforce security, compliance, and quality across GitHub and Jenkins.
  • Model hands on engineering excellence and modern CI/CD patterns for the team and broader community.
  • Mentor and grow engineers, raising capability in GitHub workflows, automation, and pipeline engineering.
  • Identify reuse and efficiency opportunities to streamline developer experience and reduce friction.
  • Partner with product and stakeholders to define roadmaps and prioritize high impact work.
  • Champion Mastercard engineering principles across GitHub and CI/CD platforms.
  • Contribute to engineering guilds and communities to influence standards and share best practices.
  • Define and track key platform metrics measuring reliability, adoption, and developer productivity.
