About The Position

As a Director of Engineering for Emerging Tech at Walmart, you will lead the strategy, development, and innovation of mobile platforms across iOS, Android, and React Native. You'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of customer experiences through cutting-edge mobile technologies, driving scalable solutions that impact millions of users. You will partner closely with Product, Design, and cross-functional Engineering teams to deliver seamless, performant, and secure mobile experiences. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • You have deep expertise in mobile development across iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin/Java), and React Native.
  • You've led high-performing engineering teams and scaled mobile platforms in large-scale consumer environments.
  • You're passionate about emerging technologies and their application in retail and commerce.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • You're a strategic thinker who can balance long-term vision with short-term execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering with 5+ years in mobile development.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven experience with iOS, Android, and React Native frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD, mobile testing frameworks, and app store deployment processes.
  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer-facing applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and backend integration.
  • Contributions to open-source mobile projects or developer communities.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 8 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 3 years' supervisory experience.
