About The Position

Position Title: Director of Operations Department: Operations Employment Status: Full-time FLSA Status: Exempt Reporting Relationships: Reports to: VP of Operations Positions Supervised: Operations & Distribution Teams Why This Job is Important. The Site Operations Director leads and directs the operations and local distribution center facilities. The Site Operations Director is responsible for developing and executing the long-range and annual operating plans. The operating plan will include all manufacturing and warehousing activities related to assigned locations. In addition, this position will ensure quality, safety, and health, environmental and lean audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years of operational leadership experience required.
  • Progressively responsible career track in manufacturing operations.
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance continuous improvement environment through implementation of and expertise with the latest lean management methods.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with understanding of the P&L and balance sheet are desirable.
  • Integrity-based leader, builds trust, initiates transparency into problems, and demonstrates genuine care for people.
  • Possesses a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to accurately assess and set priorities to drive operational improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully lead and manage all operations and functions to include manufacturing, warehousing, safety, quality, productivity, cost, engineering, facility & continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop and deploy successful Operations strategy that aligns with/supports business strategy
  • Coordinate and direct facility operations, including but not limited to manufacturing, warehousing, asset utilization, inventory control, facilities control, building layout and construction, maintenance, manufacturing projects and studies, cost controls, labor utilization, work standards, and administration.
  • Responsible for contributing to the development of all plant policies, consistent with the direction of the overall Nice-Pak organization.
  • Review, maintain, control, implement corrective actions, and regularly report on the financial progress of the plant to maintain profit plan expectations and ensure incremental performance.
  • Foster an environment of employee engagement by embracing continuous improvement culture.
  • Ensure that policies, practices, and initiatives are implemented and followed.
  • Ensure compliance with all government, financial, environmental, and labor regulations as required.
  • Serve as a key business partner and decision maker within the Nice-Pak Organization.
  • Develop and maintain innovative and effective cost reduction programs throughout operations.
  • Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
  • Partner effectively with business peers, providing clear and cohesive guidance throughout the Nice-Pak organization.
  • Develop and drive an operations strategy to support organizational growth objectives.
  • Build and successfully lead a high-performance team - assess and develop direct reports.
  • Direct the development and execution of strategic plans and annual operating plans consistent with corporate short- and long-term objectives
  • Responsible for manufacturing/operations output to meet company targets such as on time deliveries, output, quality, cost control, scrap, safety and other operational key performance indicators
  • Manage operations and manufacturing engineering functions concurrent with business growth: introduction of new operational systems, meeting division financial objectives and meeting divisional goals in relation to output, on time delivery as well as quality/safety/supply chain with other functional leaders
  • Develop and maintain an effective organization and world class operations through the selection, training, compensation, performance and motivation of all departmental personnel
  • Develop and implement global manufacturing and supply chain strategies, including Lean manufacturing
  • Apply basic principles and techniques of General Management: a) lead a diverse group of employees, b) develop and implement business and manufacturing plans, and c) understand basic financial statements
  • Provide constructive feedback to assigned personnel through written and verbal communication regarding performance requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards
  • Plan, prepare, control, monitor and forecast departmental direct and indirect budgets and capital expenditure projects
  • Coordinate needed support to operations areas through intradepartmental interface for smooth workflow and cost-efficient product
  • Coach and provide constructive feedback to assigned personnel through written and verbal communication regarding performance, quality requirements and safe work behaviors
