Drive organizational and engineering excellence to ensure silicon quality and time-to-market schedules for the company's solutions.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of semiconductor industry experience spanning multiple domains of silicon development life cycle with 10+ years in leadership roles showing progressive growth
  • Proven track record of leading PMO teams with a focus on high quality, high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience shipping multiple successful silicon products from concept to high volume production.
  • Exceptional executive communication and influencing skills.
  • MS/PhD and/or an MBA in Electrical Engineering or Physics (Optics) or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Any Silicon Photonics or CPO experience would be highly desirable, especially with micro ring modulators

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building an effective PMO functional team that is well-versed in high quality, timely execution of semiconductor products. Specific experience in the development of silicon photonics devices is a key differentiator.
  • Responsible for shepherding the end-to-end development of Ayar Labs devices from concept through production, ensuring programs stay on schedule, within budget, and meet technical specifications. This includes managing complex timelines across multiple engineering teams and manufacturing partners and ensuring alignment across these teams.
  • Develop, from scratch, "gate" or "phases" for development through high volume manufacturing for the products. This includes defining the entry and exit criteria for each of these phase gates. Once developed, this team will also own the execution to these goals as well as improving the quality of these phase/gate definitions.
  • Responsible for planning and analyzing the engineering resource usage across the company.
  • Regularly present the current "State of Health" report on the development of products to the ELT (senior leadership)
  • Drive continuous improvement of the processes to ensure that the above goals are met.
  • Lead the Program Management Office at Ayar Labs
  • Build and scale world-class PMO team, including hiring, retention, and succession planning to ensure crisp HVM.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the PMO and drive the same in the cross functional organization.
  • Shape the engineering culture from the ground up, attracting talent who want startup energy, and building a team that can move fast to ensure mutual success. We intend to inculcate radical transparency, proactive open communication, and extreme ownership across the organization.
  • Own the detailed planning, analysis and execution of product schedules.
  • Ensure that "retrospectives" and learning sessions are held to learn from each generation of chip to ensure continuous improvement.
  • This role requires both deep technical understanding of semiconductor development and strong leadership skills to navigate the complexity of modern chip design.
  • Must be able to influence without authority over the execution teams - in other words, build significant personal relationships within the cross functional organization to ensure adherence to schedules and evangelize the importance of crisp execution. Will likely also have to explain the impact of the work of cross functional teams on the execution.
  • Must work closely with the management team to ensure that risks are documented and understood.
  • Be able to hold the cross functional teams accountable for their schedules and ensure that the development stays on track
  • Develop presentation strategies to analyze and report on the health of execution from various teams on a regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
