About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the safety and security of the entire resort, ensuring the protection of guests, members, employees, property, and assets at all times. The Director of Security is accountable for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving comprehensive safety, security, and emergency response programs that mitigate risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a secure environment across all resort operations. This role leads the day‑to-day security function, proactively addresses safety concerns, manages incidents and investigations, and coordinates closely with internal leadership and external agencies to maintain a state of preparedness. Through effective leadership, training, and resource management, the Director of Security supports exceptional guest and member experiences by ensuring that safety is embedded into every aspect of the resort’s operations while aligning with organizational standards, financial stewardship, and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years resort or other related experience, American Hotel, Motel Association Loss Prevention training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position involves driving a company vehicle and/or company insured vehicle.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, along with successful completion of a pre-employment Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and annual MVRs, according to company guidelines.
  • Follow safe, defensive driving practices at all times, obey all traffic laws, regulations, signals and markings, use a seat belt, and follow Company policies and procedures, including the Substance Abuse Policy.
  • Never drive while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications that may impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely, report any accidents immediately and cooperate fully with insurance claims investigations.
  • CPR/First Responder/ AED certified (or to become certified within 90 days of assuming the position).

Responsibilities

  • Study and assure compliance with Federal and State security regulations and restrictions relative to company operations.
  • Direct activities of personnel executing company security procedures.
  • Ensure that all public areas and nonpublic areas are sufficiently patrolled.
  • Work hand in hand with local, district, state and federal agencies to coordinate activities as needed.
  • Manage department within financial guidelines.
  • Advise Employees of most effective security procedures for their department.
  • Maintain liaison contact with all guests or members relating to reported concerns or lost items.
  • Act as the advisor to the executive office in matters of security.
  • Responsible for the implementation of policy as it pertains to the security of the resort.
  • Compile reports, evaluates environmental conditions and internal controls as they might impact asset losses, make recommendations toward the reduction of risk.
  • Schedule and assign Security Employees to provide for the necessary security of the resort while maintaining budget guidelines.
  • Interview, hire, train and counsel all Security Employees.
  • Be an engaging member of committees, as an Advisor to management in security matters.
  • Oversee the investigation of all members, guests, and Employee related incidents/accidents.
  • Do periodic tests on all alarm systems as required.
  • Ensure all systems are up to date and are within state, local, guidelines.
