About The Position

We’re seeking a strategic, creative, and revenue-minded Director | Sales + Experiences to lead group, event, and experiential revenue at Nightsky San Luis Obispo. This role is responsible for driving top-line growth while curating immersive programming that reflects Nightsky’s mission of setting the standard in positive impact, nature-focused hospitality. From corporate retreats beneath the Nine Sisters to Golden Hour buyouts at Marcerro, this leader ensures that every gathering feels intentional, effortless, and deeply connected to place. This is a full-time, hybrid, exempt position based in the San Luis Obispo area. The expectation is three days per week on-site and two days remote. This role reports to the General Manager. The salary range for this position is $90,000–$100,000. Nightsky Camps Nightsky San Luis Obispo is an elevated, nature-immersive hospitality experience set atop a hill with sweeping views of the Nine Sisters. Requirements

  • 5+ years of hospitality sales, business development, event leadership, or experiential programming experience—ideally in boutique resorts, lifestyle hotels, glamping, retreats, or destination-driven properties.
  • Proven success meeting and exceeding revenue goals.
  • Experience selling and executing multi-day retreats, buyouts, and experiential gatherings.
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of revenue strategy.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, sales platforms, and event management tools.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments and supporting events across varied terrain and conditions.
  • A natural relationship-builder who understands that sales is relational, not transactional.
  • Creative yet structured — able to dream big and execute with precision.
  • A strategic thinker who also rolls up their sleeves to support event execution.
  • Warm, confident, and community-minded — equally comfortable at a trade show or a communal dinner under the stars.

  • Familiarity with the San Luis Obispo market, wine country tourism, coastal recreation, or nature-forward travel is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the property’s group and experiential sales strategy, driving revenue from retreats, buyouts, private events, wellness gatherings, and destination celebrations.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with corporate offsite planners, wedding planners, travel advisors, production teams, and regional partners.
  • Position Nightsky as the premier nature-forward gathering destination in San Luis Obispo County.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline, forecasting demand and reporting performance against revenue targets.
  • Partner with Revenue Management and Marketing to ensure pricing, positioning, storytelling, and campaign execution are aligned.
  • Deliver measurable results across Nightsky’s balanced scorecard: revenue growth, contribution margins, guest satisfaction, brand alignment, and responsible travel execution.
  • Provide strategic oversight of events, including leadership of the catering and events coordinator and full accountability for all group, retreat, and banquet programming revenue, inclusive of the Banquets & Catering (B&C) budget and performance.
  • Design and evolve immersive on-property programming aligned with Nightsky’s pillars: connection, balance, shared humanity, and responsible travel.
  • Collaborate with local winemakers, chefs, outdoor guides, wellness instructors, artists, and makers to curate destination-driven experiences.
  • Support and elevate Marcerro’s event identity—integrating food, beverage, communal dining, and Golden Hour moments into group and retreat programming.
  • Assist in planning and executing activations including wellness retreats, communal dinners, stargazing gatherings, workshops, and branded collaborations.
  • Ensure all experiences feel effortless, intimate, and aligned with the “service light, service right” philosophy.
  • Gather guest and planner feedback to refine programming and drive repeat business.
  • Serve as liaison between Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure seamless execution of group experiences.
  • Support the on-site team during events, acting as host and strategic lead when needed.
  • Train and empower front-line hosts to confidently sell and enhance experiences.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements, event safety standards, and land-use considerations specific to an outdoor property.
  • Align all initiatives with Nightsky’s sustainability commitments and design ethos.
