About The Position

This role functions as a revenue cycle operations and relationship leader based in local market facilities, coordinating and communicating across system revenue cycle and local market needs. The Director builds relationships and collaborates with various departments across the market(s) and Adventist Health shared services, including patient access, care management, clinical departments, physicians, finance, coding, and patient financial services, to identify opportunities and improve revenue cycle performance. The position facilitates revenue cycle performance meetings for assigned market(s) to review key metrics, trends, provide status updates on improvement initiatives, develop action plans, and ensure clear communication on ownership and accountability. This individual acts as the market subject matter expert for revenue cycle, focusing on market performance and market-driven dependencies that impact cash collections, accounts receivable, uncompensated care, denials, service capture, avoidable rework, and other revenue cycle opportunities. The role involves managing shared accountability for system standard performance metrics, with individual goals tailored to market-specific performance, and sharing local learnings with other market revenue cycle operations leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience

Responsibilities

  • Communicate metrics, performance, initiatives, and dependencies to market financial officers, and relay concerns, priorities, and market updates from local market financial officers to revenue cycle leadership.
  • Provide project management for system initiatives in the local market where market-based dependencies are present.
  • Escalate market-based negative performance impacts when they differ from or have not been identified by system initiatives.
  • Partner and lead performance improvement initiatives as needed to achieve revenue cycle related goals.
  • Serve as the revenue cycle subject matter expert for their local market(s) regarding trends, history, and regulatory aspects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local market leadership and staff, including finance, patient access, care management, clinical documentation specialists, department leaders, and physicians.
  • Collaborate effectively with market leadership and staff.
  • Help manage market performance by acting as a coordination and collaboration point between system revenue cycle and assigned local market(s).
  • Understand system revenue cycle trends and extrapolate them to local revenue cycle opportunities through data analytics, process observations, staff interactions, and account reviews.
  • Analyze market revenue cycle data to identify further market-specific opportunities and root causes.
  • Partner with appropriate stakeholder(s) to improve performance.
  • Manage performance against established revenue cycle performance metrics, including cash, accounts receivable, denials, avoidable losses, and cost-to-collect.
  • Collaborate with corporate shared services to drive performance improvement and help implement initiatives in local market(s).
  • Facilitate various, recurring revenue cycle performance meetings with key market and revenue cycle stakeholders.
  • Meet regularly with the market financial officer(s).
  • Act as project manager for revenue cycle opportunities identified through regular performance meetings and help implement improvements.
  • Monitor market work queues and other work-in-process.
  • Monitor market revenue and usage trends, coordinating with revenue integrity on solution implementation.
  • Help provide market staff, clinician, and physician education pertaining to revenue cycle opportunities.
  • Escalate payer revenue cycle issues through defined managed care escalation process.
  • Escalate system optimization opportunities through defined IT governance and escalation process.
  • Collaborate with market leadership to help achieve strategic and performance goals.
  • Maintain current knowledge base of regulations and insurance contracts.
  • Communicate revenue cycle performance to market(s), and vice-versa, and help knowledge share across markets.
  • Help execute overall strategic goals locally.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
