Come be a part of something special, where you can have an impact and be valued just for being you! BAL is a leading global immigration law firm recognized for its size, reach, and commitment to innovation. Our technology ecosystem includes Databricks for data engineering and analytics, Power BI for business intelligence, SQL databases powering our custom-built Cobalt platform, and Salesforce as our future-state business platform. Operating in a cloud-first environment leveraging Azure and AWS, we are modernizing our reporting, analytics, and data engineering capabilities to support faster, insight-driven decision-making. To drive this evolution, we are hiring a Director of Reporting and Data Engineering to unify data engineering, reporting, and analytics under one strategic leader. This role will transform data into a strategic asset—modernizing our reporting stack, enabling self-service analytics, automating manual work, and building a roadmap that future-proofs our data ecosystem. Problem Statement While our current reporting function receives high CSAT scores from our internal legal team customers, our current reporting and data operations model is reactive, fragmented, and heavily manual. Reporting functions operate like a centralized support desk, responding to ad-hoc requests rather than providing proactive insights aligned with business priorities. Manual report creation consumes significant capacity, limiting the team's ability to innovate or automate. The Power BI stack is underutilized with minimal self-service capabilities. Reporting and data engineering operate in silos, creating inefficiencies and unclear ownership. Demand far outpaces capacity, and prioritization is largely determined by perceived urgency instead of business value. Without a strategic roadmap, modern skills, and governance, our ability to support fast, data-driven decision-making remains limited. To Solve This: We need a leader who will shift our team from reactive reporting toward proactive analytics and business partnership. This means: Embedding aligned analysts with the business. Building a self-service analytics ecosystem. Automating manual reporting at scale. Establishing governance and data literacy. Creating a strategic roadmap for reporting, analytics, and data engineering. Ensuring our data platform supports the firm’s transition to Salesforce. This leader will unify siloed workstreams, drive modernization, and ensure our data capabilities scale with the firm.
