About The Position

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Quality - DPC to join the Data Center Power & Control Division remotely. Employing 2,500 employees across the globe, the Data, Power & Control (DPC) division of Legrand has a work environment that promotes personal advancement, pride and achievement. The Director of Quality for DPC will have strategic responsibility to provide quality leadership, oversite and direction across our DPC business. Focused on ensuring a robust and scalable quality management system is in place to meet the needs of our varied businesses, this strategic leader will be required to collaborate with teams across DPC sites and businesses to drive quality policies, standards, and systems to ensure customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across DPC’s global business entities including operations, supplier quality and engineering quality. They will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including Sales, Engineering and Operations and will provide support to all areas of the quality function. They will lead and develop the Global Quality Management System, striving for best-in-class products and business practices to deliver and exceed customer expectations, whilst influencing teams and driving quality improvement projects across the business. Other focus areas will include Quality Control and Quality Assurance efforts covering design, manufacturing, supplier performance, and technical support process at multiple locations. This position will report to the VP, Global Operations DPC and can be based in one of our sites (Canonsburg, PA, Farmingdale, NY, Anaheim, CA, New London, CT, Independence, OH), or remotely. Must be able to travel globally as needed up to 50 percent of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the manufacturing sector; at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven experience in leading Quality teams with a detailed track record in strategic quality leadership in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated successful leadership experience in this industry. Strong organizational, planning and negotiating skills are required
  • Ability to travel globally as needed up to 50 percent of the time
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, regulations, and certifications
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Ability to lead through change, influence without direct authority, and drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels and collaborate across functional groups in a highly matrixed environment
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools; Working knowledge of the introduction and management of ISO standards.
  • Ability to manage numerous stakeholders across various levels of the organizations
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be highly collaborative to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • High level of self-initiative and dependability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office tools.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and principles.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
  • Able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • ASQ, CMQ, CQE certification or similar preferred
  • Experience in supporting Hyperscale data centers preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with other leaders to develop quality performance metrics for plants and suppliers. Maintain records of performance. Provide reports to upper management periodically. Report severe exceptions immediately.
  • Support the needs across DPC businesses to ensure quality requirements are clearly specified including DFMEA/PFMEA, and production part approvals to provide input on quality issues, gage study, process capability, control plans, performance testing, etc.
  • Lead the implementation of best quality practices across business divisions and across DPC suppliers.
  • Maintain and improve thorough supplier quality improvement programs as well as processes for evaluating and qualifying new suppliers. Develop the quality systems of suppliers to include SPC and other advanced quality tools.
  • Plan and lead management reviews, internal and external audits, to ensure compliance with customer, ISO and other regulatory standards.
  • Serve as the lead on key customer communications related to quality.
