About The Position

Centric Services (“Centric”) delivers industry-leading natural gas transmission and distribution services through its Hooks and UniGas divisions. Centric serves ground-up commercial and residential developments, as well as master-planned communities in all major metropolitan markets across Texas. The Director of Project Management will oversee the execution of all gas projects, including field safety, monitoring, prioritization, communications, and quality control. This role will provide leadership and direction to all Project Managers. The Director of Project Management will also work with other department heads to complete projects within authorized budgets, schedules, and performance specifications, while ensuring that safety, departmental, and company objectives are met. This on-site position reports directly to the Vice President of Project Management at our main office in The Woodlands, Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent amount of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a related role, including experience in a senior or lead role capacity working with field maintenance/construction projects.
  • A passion and dedication to safety.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software programs such as MS Office and project management software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively across company departments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with personnel at all levels, both within and outside the company.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously (multitask).
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail with excellent follow-through skills.
  • Strong budgeting skills with the ability to reduce costs without making an adjustment that affects quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gas line installation.
  • Understanding regulatory requirements pertaining to natural gas utility and transmission operations.
  • API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster a culture of always doing things the right way: the Centric Way (safety, openness, integrity, attention to detail, etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the Project Management Department to ensure that all commitments and requirements are clearly understood.
  • Assigns Project Managers and directs them in all project phases, including pre-design, design, pre-construction, construction, and close-out.
  • Provides strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership for the successful implementation of project activities.
  • Accountable for ensuring that sufficient qualified contractors are available to accomplish planned project activity.
  • Maintains effective relationships with developers and contractors.
  • Ensures the adequacy and effectiveness of processes to oversee the work of contractors, including compliance with safety policies, regulatory standards, and quality expectations.
  • Ensures projects are well documented, mitigate risk, and are delivered on time.
  • Interfaces with executives to define project priorities and implementation opportunities and challenges and keep them up to date with project risks and opportunities.
  • Leverages problem-solving and influencing skills to manage cross-functional project teams, stakeholders, and customer expectations in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Designs, develops, and manages project management processes, charters, project plans, and risk & issue logs.
  • Develops, monitors, and analyzes project metrics to propose operational and cost improvements.
  • Oversee post-project re-appraisals to drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Works with planning and other departments to improve forecasting of activities, material purchasing, and financials.
