About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking a Program Scheduling Director to establish and lead an enterprise‑level scheduling capability across a portfolio of complex commercial and government programs. This role will initially support a flagship constellation‑style program and expand to company‑wide responsibility. The successful candidate will build a trusted, authoritative Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), define scheduling standards and processes, and grow an internal scheduling function that scales with the organization. This is a builder role suited for a senior scheduling professional who thrives in fast‑paced, technically complex environments and is energized by creating structure where little currently exists.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems, Business, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 8+ years of experience developing and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules on complex hardware development programs - aerospace, defense, or satellite strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience building an IMS from scratch on a program with distributed, multi-site teams across engineering disciplines
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Project Pro and/or Primavera P6; able to build and maintain networks of 1,000+ activities with full logic and resource loading
  • Deep understanding of critical path method (CPM), schedule float analysis, and risk-driven schedule analysis techniques
  • Experience computing and reporting SPI and schedule variance against a snapped baseline; working understanding of EVMS principles even if full EVM was not implemented
  • Proven ability to extract accurate schedule data from distributed engineering teams and hold leads accountable to weekly reporting without direct management authority
  • Experience supporting formal program reviews (CDR, PDR, MRR, or equivalent) with IMS-derived schedule artifacts
  • Ability to communicate schedule risk to executive leadership in clear, non-jargon terms; comfortable presenting to a CEO or board-level audience
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross‑functional and geographically distributed teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex schedule data into clear insights
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of schedule data and reporting
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and professional credibility
  • Ability to influence without authority through data, trust, and consistency
  • Comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity and evolving processes
  • Enterprise scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project Professional, Primavera P6, or equivalent
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for schedule analysis and reporting
  • Presentation and reporting tools such as PowerPoint and executive dashboards
  • Collaboration and work‑management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar)
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment and use a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to participate in meetings across multiple time zones as needed
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for program and site support as needed
  • Ability to access engineering, production, or test environments when required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, satellite, or similarly regulated technical industries
  • Background establishing a scheduling or program controls function (processes, tools, templates, and teams)
  • Experience managing schedules through both development and production ramp phases
  • PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI‑SP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Familiarity with government program reporting expectations and IMS compliance standards
  • Experience recruiting, mentoring, or leading scheduling or program controls personnel
  • Knowledge of complex manufacturing, integration, test, or deployment workflows
  • Data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or equivalent) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) as the authoritative schedule for complex, cross‑functional programs
  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive IMS covering all major phases of program execution
  • Translate high‑level milestones into detailed, logic‑driven activity networks with clear critical path visibility
  • Establish and manage schedule baselines and control updates through formal change management practices
  • Support multiple programs through scalable, consistent scheduling methodologies
  • Analyze and report schedule performance against approved baselines on a regular cadence
  • Identify schedule variances, key drivers, and recovery recommendations
  • Maintain near‑term look‑ahead schedules to support execution planning and coordination
  • Produce recurring schedule status and performance reports highlighting milestone progress, critical path insights, risks, and trends
  • Create concise, executive-level schedule visuals to support leadership briefings
  • Provide schedule inputs to support program reviews and informed decision‑making
  • Serve as the primary scheduling point of contact for cross‑functional teams across geographically distributed environments
  • Drive regular schedule status collection and integrate updates into the master schedule with consistent logic and data discipline
  • Build trusted working relationships and influence stakeholders through data‑driven insights and credibility
  • Support program sessions and milestone reviews with schedule analysis and critical path insight
  • Define and document enterprise scheduling standards and best practices
  • Select, administer, and optimize enterprise scheduling tools in coordination with key stakeholders
  • Develop practical schedule input templates and guidance to enable efficient updates from technical teams
  • Maintain scheduling documentation and reference materials to support long-term program consistency
  • Contribute to the growth and maturation of the organization’s scheduling capability
  • Recruit, onboard, and mentor scheduling professionals as the organization evolves
  • Promote consistency in scheduling methods, tools, and data standards across programs
