Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, the Cardiovascular team is developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments for heart recovery, electrophysiology, and stroke, continually elevating standards of care for stroke, heart failure and atrial fibrillation (AFib) patients. As part of Heart Recovery within J&J MedTech, the Project Management Office (PMO) supports execution of cross-functional projects and programs to deliver the overarching business strategy. This role is for a highly skilled and experienced Director of Program Management to lead strategic programs for the Heart Recovery organization. These programs will involve cross-functional business priorities, including supporting the annual strategic planning process, priority programs and cultural initiatives. The Director will drive successful program execution and ensure alignment with organizational goals. Reporting directly to the Program Management Office Lead, this leadership role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and fostering a collaborative environment. This position requires up to 10% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of project and portfolio management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in MedTech.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
  • Strong business insight and strategic thinking.
  • Consistent record of leading large-scale projects and teams across multiple locations.
  • Solid understanding of project management software and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
  • Fluency with generative AI tools.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with key functions including Finance, Strategic Marketing, Medical Office and Engineering to support Strategic Plan, Worldwide Product Plan, Business Plan and Tactical Plan cycles.
  • Lead team/s to translate organizational strategy into an integrated executable plan, including scenario planning, governance approvals and setting priorities, and optimizing plans through constructive challenge and continuous dialogue with the different functions to ensure all activities are aligned with team goals and objectives.
  • Drive teams to meet or exceed those goals by providing superior global cross-functional operational leadership and management in a matrix organization.
  • Partner with cross-functional leads (e.g., Engineering, Commercial, Strategic Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory, etc.) across Heart Recovery to ensure end-to-end program oversight for strategic business priorities (e.g. cultural programs) and to identify and mitigate risks and issues to maintain quality, timelines, resources and budget.
  • Lead scenario planning, resource planning, risk management, issue identification and mitigation, problem-solving, contingency planning, action-item follow-up, decision-support and decision-making to deliver strategic goals for the organization.
  • Work with standard budgeting and forecasting models to address specific project needs in collaboration with team partners; identify trade-off options and novel approaches to exploring risk and accelerating program execution.
  • Manage team information, documentation, and communications to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of strategy and operational status throughout the Company.
