About The Position

Responsible for the design and implementation of systems and structures that support all personnel who design and deliver professional learning and training in producing highly effective face to face, blended, and/or online sessions for Wake County Public School (WCPSS) staff. Collaborates with key staff impacting learning and teaching to identify training needs and priorities; oversees the development and delivery of a range of professional learning opportunities that meet the identified needs of all staff associated with learning and teaching. Evaluates the effectiveness of implemented programs, as determined by its impact on students and/or job performance.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of national trends in the delivery of training including the use of technology-based training techniques and best practices related to the development and delivery of training;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult learning theory;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research-based practices in professional learning;
  • Considerable knowledge of federal, state, and local budgeting and finance requirements;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps;
  • Effective personnel and program management skills;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex information and recommend solutions to budgetary or management problems, as needed;
  • Ability to design, deliver, and facilitate professional learning;
  • Ability to evaluate training and professional learning to ensure topics and information are being implemented;
  • Ability to implement creative problem-solving solutions;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff at varying hierarchical levels and roles.
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Five years of successful teaching experience;
  • Demonstrated successful experience in a progressively responsible administrative/management role;
  • Experience conducting learning and training needs assessments;
  • Experience in designing and delivering professional development to meet identified needs using a variety of modalities and evaluation training outcomes.
  • Hold or be eligible for North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in an administrative license area of the School;
  • Administrator-Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist;
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plans a program of relevant, meaningful, professional learning experiences that meet the individual needs of employees; contributes to the curriculum development and instructional design of professional learning experiences.
  • Creates tools, resources, and activities that enhance continuous improvement training programs.
  • Oversees and coordinates the skill development of coaches and professional learning teams.
  • Delivers electronic and face-to-face learning experiences to employees.
  • Ensures that professional learning programs are implemented with fidelity and contain accurate content, relevant information, and consistent messages.
  • Coordinates, oversees, and provides leadership in the development of the curriculum budget.
  • Conducts needs assessments to determine training needs. Provides consultation and assistance to WCPSS staff with the planning, design and delivery of conferences, workshops and presentations.
  • Assesses effectiveness of training.
  • Provides leadership and support to Academics, Student Support Services, and Special Education in the development and delivery of professional learning.
  • Collaborates with other divisions and participates in cross-functional teams and projects to foster organizational alignment and commitment to system-wide goals.
  • Coordinates and contributes to the development of WCPSS-sponsored professional learning events.
  • Establishes a positive learning environment in all professional learning opportunities where participants actively participate.
  • Stays current in research-based improvement strategies to ensure that professional learning matches the needs of all employees.
  • Oversees the development and production of multimedia content to support professional learning.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
