About The Position

As a Director, Production Planning is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide production planning, supply planning, and inventory management functions for LifeNet Health’s Tissue and LifeSciences divisions. This role oversees a team of planners managing highly complex, multi-step product lifecycles in a regulated tissue banking environment. The Director ensures optimal alignment of supply and demand through effective use of SAP, integrated business planning (IBP), and a disciplined S&OP process. The position requires deep expertise in planning within complex, variable-yield environments, ideally within biologics, tissue banking, cell therapy, or medical devices. The Director partners cross-functionally across Operations, Quality, Finance, Purchasing, and Marketing to ensure customer needs are met while maintaining regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and optimal inventory investment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years’ progressive experience in production planning, supply planning, or inventory management within a highly complex regulated environment (i.e. biologics, tissue banking, cell therapy, medical devices, or pharmaceutical strongly preferred)
  • Five (5) years Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Advanced Planning Software systems
  • Seven (7) years Management Experience
  • Computer Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, modeling, data visualization VLOOKUP, pivot tables, modeling, scenario analysis).
  • Data Analytics and Reporting: Proficiency with analytics and planning tools (Power BI, Tableau, SAP, SAP IBP), including the ability to use planning systems, forecasting platforms, and collaborative S&OP tools to support data driven decision making through strong analytical and scenario planning skills.
  • Communication Skills: Written, verbal and presentation; ability to engage, inspire and influence people
  • Technical & Functional Skills: Strong expertise in demand, capacity, and inventory planning, including development of standardized planning processes, KPIs, dashboards, governance models, and supply chain risk mitigation.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic planning and interfacing especially for complex or critical products. Impact of regulatory changes on internal processes and products Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between department/function and business strategy.
  • People Development: Actively engages in talent management practices (selection, promotion, development and engagement) to cultivate a workforce that is well aligned with current and emerging talent needs.
  • Relationship Management: Builds and sustains partnerships across organizational boundaries and functions as well as outside the organization to achieve common goals and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Production & Supply Planning: Lead enterprise production and supply planning across multiple manufacturing sites to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective availability of tissue grafts and LifeSciences products. Own the end-to-end S&OP process, ensuring cross-functional alignment between Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Finance. Use SAP, SAP IBP, and advanced analytics to build robust supply plans, scenario planning, and capacity planning models across a complex, variable-yield portfolio. Ensure supply plans align with demand forecasts, regulatory requirements, operational capacity, and donor availability constraints. Build capability in demand and supply planning tools, systems, and processes—including S&OP and IBP maturity.
  • People Leadership: Provides oversight to assigned team by supervising, guiding and directing employees to be effective team members. Ensures that everyone is equipped with the right skills, tools, and talents necessary for executing their duties. Using the established people processes (performance, development, succession, and career) to ensure that their team’s level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards.
  • Inventory Planning & Optimization: Develop and implement standardized inventory planning, safety stock strategies, and replenishment models across all product segments and locations. Balance customer service levels with inventory investment, shelf-life constraints, country eligibility requirements and production variability. Ensure inventory planning practices comply with GMP/GTP, AATB, and ISO standards.
  • OEM & Strategic Partner Inventory Management: Lead inventory planning and communication with strategic partners (Marketing/sales), ensuring their needs and priorities are accurately incorporated into production plans.
  • Customer / Stakeholder Service: Address customer-facing inventory availability issues, complaints, and non-conformances by driving timely root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions. Collaborate with internal teams to enhance supply reliability and service performance. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration consistent with LifeNet Health’s mission and values.
