About The Position

Bully Pulpit International is an outcomes agency made up of strategists, data scientists, and artists. We come from politics, brands, and government and we communicate without barriers and measure what matters. We have more than 350 team members in six countries and thirteen offices — Berlin, Brussels, Chicago, D.C., London, Los Angeles, New York, Oslo, San Francisco, and Zürich. We apply our unique expertise across strategic communications, public affairs, research, and digital marketing to create sophisticated and customized strategies that make change possible for both American and European clients. BPI is looking for a Director of Product to manage products at the intersection of advertising, communications and analytics to keep us on the leading edge. This is not your typical product management role – you will be extremely hands-on in analyzing data, building working prototypes, and directly using the tools you build to deliver outputs for clients to understand what’s working. The ideal candidate thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and is excited about tackling new challenges across disciplines using the latest tools and technology.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working in technology or product management
  • Demonstrated experience managing products – you’ve defined the vision, set expectations with high-level stakeholders, coordinated between designers / developers / data scientists, and coordinated go-to-market efforts to successfully launch products
  • Hands-on experience using data and analytics to build tools – you can use mockups, spreadsheets, scripts, or AI tools to build prototypes or test out potential offerings
  • Intellectually curious with a strong sense of data intuition and critical thinking – you think in first principles to untangle thorny problems or figure out how things work. You can spot discrepancies in a data set from a mile away
  • A product-focused mindset – after you’ve done a task for the first time, you can articulate a plan to scale and systematize it across a team
  • Principled and in-the-weeds understanding of advertising, communications, and/or politics – you’re excited to geek out on the cutting edge of how data applies to campaigns, whether that’s using log-level data to measure advertising campaigns, using LLMs to predict campaign effectiveness, or modeling individual-level media behavior using ACR data
  • Strong consensus building + project management skills – this is a senior-level IC role, with substantial lateral management across teams. You can identify the right thing to build, then drive demand for that product.
  • Proven ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences – you can translate between engineer and statistics experts and less-technical stakeholders and clients without losing critical details

Responsibilities

  • Work with new tech platforms and data sources to evaluate their capabilities, identify how they can solve business problems and fit into our existing data stack, and develop products that get them in the hands of our team
  • Build prototypes for new tools and products, working independently and with other internal teams, and then use those prototypes to evaluate what we need to build a production-grade application
  • Manage analysts focused on product development work
  • Engage directly with key stakeholders across our team and clients to understand what’s working and shape product roadmaps
  • Manage product development across the lifecycle, working with engineering, data science, and other teams and clearly communicating progress and obstacles to leadership
  • Develop go-to-market strategies for internal and external products and build buy-in for our products as an enthusiastic advocate

Benefits

  • BPI offers a wide range of benefits to U.S.-based employees, including 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) program with employer match up to 4%, generous time off for vacation, $50 monthly phone reimbursement, unlimited sick time, and 16 weeks of paid leave for new parents
