About The Position

The Director, Procurement leads two critical teams at Roland Foods, the Category Management team and the Supply & Demand Planning team. The Category Management group manages the company’s extensive co-manufacturer base, which consists of over 200 suppliers across 40 countries. The team is charged with optimizing for product cost, quality, and availability of Roland Foods’ portfolio of over 1,000 items across a variety of categories and cuisines. Roland Foods has an industry-leading supplier network built over many decades, and the Director will be charged with maintaining these key relationships and establishing new partnerships to continually expand the supply base. The Category Management team works very cross-functionally, especially in supporting the Sales team by partnering with Roland Foods’ co-manufacturers to develop customer solutions. The Director will have four direct reports: three Category Managers, supported by a team of three Category Sourcing Analysts, and a Product Sourcing Manager, who is focused on sourcing efforts related to the enhancement of Roland Foods’ product portfolio. The Supply & Demand Planning team charged with maintaining an optimized inventory position for all items across Roland Foods’ distribution network. The team consists of a manager, who will report into the Director of Procurement, and four analysts, each of whom has a portfolio of items they manage. The Directo will lead this team to ensure it meets the company’s goals on service level and inventory. This is also a highly cross-functional team, working collaboratively with Sales, Category Management, Logistics and many other teams to ensure we have accurate demand forecasting and supply execution to meet it. As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of Procurement or Supply Planning experience
  • Leadership experience with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams
  • Ability to build and maintain effective structure and processes to guide the team’s daily work
  • Ability to understand nuance and detail without losing sight of the “big picture” and stay focused on operational objectives
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and develop actionable insights and recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, organizational skills, ability to multitask, and prioritize
  • Excellent communicator with a proactive sense of ownership of the responsibilities of the role
  • Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient in PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to create executive-level presentations

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Business or another related field
  • Experience with Logility or a similar supply chain planning software
  • Experience with business intelligence software (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience in CPG or Food & Beverage

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Category Managers, the Supply & Demand Planning Manager and the Analysts that support them, providing guidance, structure, coaching, and support to drive performance and foster a culture of excellence
  • Establish the strategic roadmap for the category management and supply & demand planning functions, including clear goals and KPIs, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies as needed
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating favorable terms and agreements to optimize cost, quality, and availability of products within categories. Deploy the right techniques to motivate suppliers to perform their best for Roland Foods
  • Create or enhance operational processes impacting their function, including but not limited to its sales & operations planning process, excess/expiring inventory management process, sourcing process, new supplier or product onboarding process, supplier performance management processes
  • Manage important setting and configurations in the company’s supply planning software (Logility) that will dictate the company’s inventory and replenishment strategy, such as safety stock levels, default sourcing settings (origin vs. warehouse transfer), SKU stratification, etc.
  • Establish, track and report out Executive-level KPIs, such as product cost savings targets, service level and inventory targets
  • Collaborate with the Sales team on customer bids and opportunities, problem-solving with both Sales and Roland Foods’ suppliers to identify winning customer solutions
  • Support other cross-functional teams, such as Custom Products & Innovation and Food Safety & Quality Assurance, to ensure supplier performance enables them to meet their objectives
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the category management function
  • Develop the team’s abilities in the core skills needed for their success: negotiating, problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
