About The Position

As the Director of Portfolio Management you will bring leadership and analytical rigor to the financial and portfolio management of the InfraRed Energy Transition Fund (“IRETF”). The role leads day to day fund management for IRETF including reporting and valuation, treasury and liquidity management, investor communications, preparation of quarterly reports, and technical/structuring support to portfolio transactions (investments, refinancings, restructurings and exits).

Requirements

  • Strong infrastructure / energy transition fund management experience with a rounded financial, risk and commercial awareness and proficiency analysing financial statements.
  • Degree qualified with a strong academic record
  • Strong knowledge and experience of valuations, cash flow forecasting, liquidity management and private fund reporting; experience supporting complex transactions and structuring is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the US regulatory environment with respect to open-ended funds; experience working within a controlled environment with strong governance and compliance expectations.
  • Advanced project management skills with the ability to multi-task, manage complex processes and conflicting priorities, and deliver accurate, high-quality work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team and contribute at a senior level to strategic, business development and operational matters.
  • Demonstrable experience developing relationships with, and managing, multiple internal and external stakeholders with sometimes conflicting objectives (including institutional investors and third-party service providers).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and comfortable working with detailed financial models and data sources/terminals.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage at a Senior/Institutional Investor level.
  • Experience managing and developing junior colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Financial management and reporting: lead preparation of IRETF quarterly reports, assist with annual accounts, sustainability (ESG) reporting, quarterly valuations and investor returns (routine and ad-hoc), and present financial information to investors and internally as required.
  • Valuations: lead, develop and implement best practices around investment valuation; coordinate with valuation advisers and auditors to ensure robust, timely and well-documented outcomes.
  • Treasury and liquidity management: oversee and manage the treasury function for IRETF including banking facilities, letters of credit, foreign exchange management/hedging (as applicable), monitoring and managing cash positions, cash flow forecasting, investor drawdowns and distributions, and subscriptions to and distributions from investments.
  • Liaison with NYC and London finance teams.
  • Investor communications: maintain regular, well-prepared communication with investors conducive to repeat business, including supporting/leading engagement at AGMs, LPACs and ad-hoc investor meetings; respond to investor queries accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Capital requirements and fundraising support: assess future capital requirements; assist with preparation of investor materials and participate in investor presentations and due diligence processes.
  • Technical and structuring support to transactions: provide fund-level and structuring support to IRETF transactions led by the investment team, including acquisitions, refinancings, restructurings and exits; support the finance team with the establishment and administration of any new vehicles required for acquisitions, co-investments or portfolio enhancements.
  • Value enhancements: identify, evaluate and manage value enhancement initiatives to maximise portfolio value and improve yield/returns in coordination with investment and asset management colleagues.
  • Governance and approvals: prepare and present approval papers as required to internal committees and boards; ensure compliance with fund documentation, internal processes and delegated authorities.
