The Director of Patient Care Services (Director) at Saint Luke’s East Hospital (SLEH) is accountable for the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of Acute Care Services across assigned departments. This role reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and works in close partnership with the Director supporting Critical Care Services, as well as a collaborative team of Directors across the entity to ensure consistency, equity, and alignment of processes, resources, and standards of care throughout the hospital. The Director provides leadership for a complex portfolio that includes five direct-report department managers and two matrixed reporting relationships. Direct reports oversee the following areas: Medical Specialty Unit (33 beds), Medical Telemetry Unit (30 beds), Medical Intermediate Unit (30 beds), Medical Surgical Unit (30 beds), and the Inpatient and Outpatient Wound Program. Matrixed responsibilities include Care Progression and the entity float pool, along with collaborative relationships with several additional specialty departments. The Director is responsible for modeling and advancing Saint Luke’s values of kindness, respect, excellence, safety, and teamwork. Accountability includes the quality, safety, and effectiveness of care delivery; achievement of patient experience and clinical outcome metrics; and stewardship of resources across assigned departments. This role provides operational and financial oversight, including cost center budget management, capital budgeting, and optimization of staffing, space, equipment, and supplies. In partnership with Medical Staff and interdisciplinary leaders, the Director plays a key leadership role in the planning, development, and implementation of programs, services, and process improvements that support the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of the hospital, system, and enterprise. The Director is expected to lead through influence, foster engagement, and drive sustainable change in a dynamic acute care environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, prior acute care management experience, and the ability to independently assess opportunities and implement innovative solutions. The Director must be an effective change agent who can balance operational excellence with compassionate, patient-centered leadership.
