About The Position

The Director of Nursing oversees the nursing department's operations with 24-hour accountability, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. They manage clinical nursing practices, patient care delivery, and resource allocation, providing administrative oversight to maintain quality care aligned with hospital objectives. This role involves planning, directing, leading, and evaluating nursing services to ensure the highest level of patient care.

  • Advanced organizational and multitasking skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Certification in Nursing Leadership or Administration (e.g., NE-BC, NEA-BC) preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in a healthcare or acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour accountability for compliance with regulatory and professional standards in patient care units and staff functions.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care within the assigned department(s) to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Oversee and manage clinical nursing practices, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission and objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Administer and manage human, fiscal, and material resources for assigned units.
  • Collaborate with the CNO and executive leadership to establish strategic goals and objectives for the nursing department.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain nursing staff to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, implementing improvement initiatives as necessary.
  • Represent the nursing department in hospital committees, task forces, and leadership meetings.
