About The Position

Directs, plans, and organizes the staff and operations related to the Grants Administration Department. A key leadership role responsible for optimizing the operational efficiency and strategic management of Northwell Health's diverse grant portfolio. This position provides critical day-to-day oversight, supports grant analysts, and ensures compliance and effective stewardship of all grant-funded programs.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
8-12 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
Extensive experience across the full grant lifecycle, including pre-award (proposal development, budget preparation, submission), award negotiation, and post-award management (financial reporting, compliance, close-out).
Proven experience in developing, implementing, and enforcing grant-related policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Demonstrated experience managing grant-funded subcontracts and subawards, ensuring compliance and effective oversight.
Strong background in financial management specific to grants, including budgeting, forecasting, expenditure tracking, and audit preparation.
Experience working in a large, complex organization, preferably within an academic medical center, healthcare system, or research institution.

Responsibilities

Provide essential operational leadership and support to the grant administration team, serving as a primary resource and mentor for grant analysts on daily workflows, compliance, and strategic submission guidance.
Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies to enhance efficiency, consistency, and compliance with institutional and funder requirements for grant administration.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports on grant activities, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives to the CFO and other senior leadership.
Leads an Operations group by communicating with and developing staff members, and building consensus for programs and goals that support a business, function or geographic area.
Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of service contracts to in order to develop strategies of standardization and cost savings; analyzes material costs and offers cost-saving solutions to Corporate Procurement.
Identifies appropriate equipment/supply inventory levels; establishes par levels and oversees processes to ensure timely maintenance.
Develops, implements and oversees warehousing and receiving logistics processes (i.e., loading dock, mailroom, and storage areas) and oversees parking and valet services for the Center.
Functions as end-user interface for physicians, administrative and support personnel to assure operational concerns with the Center are continuously identified and addressed.
Develops and monitors strategic operating goals, objectives and budget; reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action.
Participates in new construction projects at the Center related to operational issues; develops and implements operations-related programs to enhance patient and employee satisfaction.
Develops and maintains productive inter/intra departmental clinical, administrative and vendor work relationships to optimize materials management operations.
Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.
Oversees compliance with government and agency regulations.
